The good, the bad and the rowdy!
Melissa Oct 27, 2009
The hotel and grounds are beautful! The pool and pool staff are awaesome! Check in and out were very easy. The staff was very ... polite and friendly. Only one complaint: the room next to us was booked by a group of rowdy college students who decided to throw a party around 2AM. It took several calls to the front desk to get security to come a quiet the party. I was a little dissapointed by the attitude of the resort staff regarding the situation. I would not think that that type of behaivor would be tolerated on any level ... after all it is called the "Sanctuary" at Camelback Mountain!

If you're looking for a quiet romantic getaway in the desert, this is the place! Low-key but very hip resort. Known for ... it's amazing spa, which doesn't disappoint. Located in the foothills of Camelback mountain, spectacular views of the desert. Have been several times, and each time I love it more!

My husband and I did a quick overnight stay at the hotel. We were looking for something with great service and a relaxing ... atmosphere. The service was incredible and the setting was perfection. My only negative about the hotel was the bed as it was a little firm for my taste. However, the service, location, pool and spa area more than made up for it. I would absolutely stay here again and refer friends.

Beautiful and relaxing holiday!
feeling relaxed Sep 15, 2009
We stayed at The Sanctuary from September 10th until the 14th and had such a great relaxing time that we plan to go again ... very soon. The hotel is very unique in that it feels like a motel the way it is set up because you can park right outside your room but the place definitely looks and feels like a five star resort. The pool is amazing because even though the hotel was booked solid the pool was never full and we never had a problem getting a chair. None of the annoying chair saving antics were needed. Plus the endless ice water was a bonus. The food and drinks are expensive but what do you expect at a 5 star resort. The place is not overly flashy but it is very tastefully decorated and the staff is extremely friendly and helpful. We stayed in a Mountain Casita room and which had a great view and was a short walk to the pool so we have no complaints.

Where to stay even when it's 114 degrees
Heather Jul 16, 2009
Amazing place, it was like a very sophisticated adult version of summer camp with much better food. We hiked the mountains, ... lounged by the pool, played tennis, rode bikes, hot air ballooned. Went to cooking + wine class, gallery hopped etc. The spa and exercise studio are top rate. (And did I mention we went in July = 114 degrees and it was still fabulous.) I'd go again tomorrow again if I could.

In the summer in Arizona you have to do outdoor physical activities very early. My husband and I are typically not morning people, but since we were coming from the midwest, the 2 hour time difference made getting up a breeze. We hiked the Camelback mountains (a short 2 mile bike away) and were back for breakfast before 10 am.

Beautiful!
biztravlr Jul 9, 2009
Everything was beautiful. Rooms are quiet, clean and zen. The hotel is made up of many buildings which house one casita ... room and one suite. All have commanding views of Camelback mountain. Staff was extremely friendly and the restaurant (elements) and bar (jade) are top notch. Only one minor complaint, I had a toilet that ran and I made daily calls to the front desk to have engineering fix it but no one came. I stayed in their basic moutain casita which for one is a very spacious 500 sqft. I am going back in two weeks with my wife and son and will be in their mountain suite. If you are looking for quiet, relaxing trip with private accomodations and great food and service this is it!

The Sanctuary at Camelback mountain was very beautiful with great amenities on the premises. The Casita that we stayed in ... provided us with adequate space and it was always stocked with the essentials that we needed. My husband and I were able to be in the bath and shower area at the same time because that area was that large. There was a comfortable sofa with great lighting right near the stocked bar. It was located near great shopping and eating places.
