Great Location

We travelled up to the Grand Canyon at the last minute, and couldn't find a hotel in the park. This hotel was in a great location--very convenient. The fireplace in the lobby was great. All of us sat by the fire and had a glass of wine. The staff was very friendly.

Overpriced, but good location

This hotel was probably very nice at one time. It is still above average, but it is a bit overpriced. There is a restaurant and bar on site, but they are pricey as well. However, you are paying for location. It is right outside the entrance to the Grand Canyon. Be aware, the pet fee is $50! I have paid less for a 4 star hotel, and had much nicer accommodations. It did seem that they were doing some remodeling though. Also, it is one of the nicer hotels in the area. Overall, it was pretty comfortable.

Not so great

I wouldn't recommend this hotel to anyone. The room cards don't work resulting in you having to go back to the lobby several times to get a new one. The restaurant isn't that great and the staff in there was awful. After asking about the seafood special on the menu (it tells you to ask) our waitress told us "there isn't a seafood special today because the seafood we have on the menu is fine." Odd. The host was rude....just an all round bad experience. We aren't difficult people. We just wanted a warm bed and a good drink and we just barely got that. I'd stay across the street at the best western next time.

awesome grand canyon hotel

This place was perfect for anyone going to see the grand canyon. It is located right outside the park, they have a decent restaurant with a lot of beer on tap. Friendly staff with nice rooms. Only negative was that the WiFi didn't work that well.

There Are Better Options

The hotel is in a good location - very close to the Grand Canyon's South Rim entrance, and across the street from a great Mexican restaurant. They also have an indoor pool and jacuzzi. The rooms and hotel are also nicely decorated (huge fireplace in the hotel lobby, etc). HOWEVER, the rooms are not clean (there was someone else's hair on our pillows and sheets, so we had to request more; Also, the bathroom toilet didn't flush properly, so we had to request a repair. And the housekeeping staff continuously threw pillows and sheets on the floors - which might be where the random hair came from). The gym might as well be nonexistent. The gift shop had weird hours (almost never open). And the restaurant was overpriced, understaffed, and they didn't even know what their lunch hours were. They also don't have a real lunch menu - it's just the appetizers from the dinner menu. Overall, I wouldn't stay here again. I would try one of the hotels across the street.

Do not speed through the village - seen a few cops giving tickets for 45 m/h in a 35 miles zone.

Ok, but way overpriced

Good hotel, clean and in good location. The location is the reason the place charges such a premium. I would expect to pay around $70-80 tops for something like this. What's more the breakfast is not included, which is of course disclosed when you book it. We've been to many places on this trip with very comparable hotels, all were about 30% cheaper, included breakfast and offered same or better amenities.
