Great location but overpriced

You can't get any closer to the Grand Canyon without actually being in the park. Wonderful location. Great breakfast. But I do think the price is too much for what you get. This should be a $100-$150 a night hotel.

Good location compromise

I spent the night in this hotel after driving from Los Angeles to the Canyon and needing to rest before going back home the next day. The location is perfect, as it's just a few miles outside the park, but still in Tusayan, where there are a few restaurants, visitor centers, shopping areas. The only better location is right inside the park. The room was clean and comfortable, wifi had strong signal, TV was great, there even was a fridge with a freezer shelf, which was great for me, as I needed to keep some food cold for the following day trip. Only downside for me was the mattress, which was too soft, and the noise coming from the corridor (hikers wake up at 5 am and the rooms are not well isolated). Breakfast was ok, nothing out of the ordinary. Overall a pretty nice hotel in a great location. I recommend it.

First time in grand canyon

The hotel was great. We arrived at 4 which was the check in time but was told that our room was not ready for at least another 30 minutes. We were not the only ones, the lobby was filled with people waiting for their room. Housekeeping was falling behind. Other than that mild inconvenience the staff were friendly and the hotel was well maintained.

Across the street in the lodge was a great steakhouse. Live music nightly. A little pricey, but good food.

Family visit to Grand Canyon

Very average. Lack of service at front desk. Upon checking in I asked if there were suites available and was told no. I asked if the hotel had a restaurant and was told no. I asked for info on visiting the canyon and was told no. I asked if someone was available to help carry in our luggage and was told no.

Good choice for good price

Overall, this hotel was very good, but can't give it a 5 star rating. This is why: Pros: Great price, for the value Staff was very friendly, gave good advice about nearby restaurants Breakfast was very nice, great variety and clean breakfast area, again, friendly staff preparing and cleaning Comfy bed: even had identified hard and soft pillows Great location. Only thing closer to the canyon was the lodges Cons: Cleanliness of room-would have been 5 star had it not been for the cigarette butt left on the floor after they came and cleaned it for the next day. View from the room was directly onto trash dumpster and nearby shed My wife says the towels were a little hard, should have been softer. I was fine with it. It was the only hotel in its vicinity of two others which did not have its own restaurant. But I would recommend this hotel, and stay here again.

Stay away from Big E Steakhouse. Overpriced and poor quality food. Staffing was enthusiastic but too small.
