Great hotel great town
Every thing was fun and the maxwell blade magic show was awesome Hotel staff very friendly and pool slide was right on!!

The not so good or great!!!
The Howard Johnson was the worst hotel I have ever stayed in. The elevator and stairways stunk so badly that everytime we were in either one my mother and I almost threw up. The bathroom was dirty, other peoples hair all over the floor and shower. It was really bad because the sign out front says that they are newly renovated and they definately are not. (MAYBE 30 YRS AGO)

Hotel staff wonderful
Overall the hotel was pretty nice for the price and accessability.Elavator needs some work!Staff were outstanding!!!!!Hotel restaraunt is repulsive;there was only one waiter on a Saturday morning,and it tood an hour and half to get some biscuits and gravy and BLT which made his dentures come out!because the bacon was so old and overcooked!the resauraunt owner walked around and cleaned tables while people continously waited.It was inconsiderate and we will never eat there as long as it's there; and I will be glad to let other people know about the horrible services.everytime I talk to somebody.(I work for a lawyer, so I talk to alot of people!)

this possibly is the worst motel i ever stayed at,except when we work in a storm zone would not recommend it

Meh, what do you expect for the price?
Everything was ok...nothing was great....except for Phil's, the restaurant downstairs! ENORMOUS quantities of good food, friendly service, and a great price. The hotel, well, what exactly do you expect for the price. It was old, but clean...the towel bar fell out of the wall when I tried to hang my towel on it, and there were motorcycles going through the intersection where the hotel is ALL night long. The front desk staff were friendly. It is very close to the historic downtown area. All in all, for the price, it's not horrible. Hot Springs, in general, had about the nicest locals we've ever met in a town. Most tourist areas seem to have a certain disdain for tourists...but not here. The people were ALL very warm and friendly, from gas station attendants to fast food clerks, to servers in fine dining restaurants.

Short drive from hotel
OK, two tips...first of all, driving in Hot Springs is quite the experience...the roads are winding and run on wierd angles, and traffic, in short, SUCKS! Second Tip! There's a great little shop downtown where the owner makes her own soaps and bath/body products on premises...it smells great, the prices are awesome, and she's warm, friendly and welcoming. Bath products are one of my favorite little luxuries, and hers are pretty and smell fantastic1 Check it out!

VERY DISAPPOINTING
We chose the hotel because of location, close to downtown. The room was in need of repairs and maintance, pool was closed for reconstruction. which was not disclosed to us until we checked in. We had our teenage children with us and they were very disappointed. The room open to the out side of the hotel and the carpeting smelled of mildew. There was also a lot of noise during the night (people yelling) and when we tried to call the front desk our phone didn't work. Very poor customer service!

my hotel room was very nice but one of the elavators was out of order so we ended up having to walk and extra distance to get to our rooms
