Good Value

For the price, the value was good. No issues inside. One night, I did encouter a person pan handling when I was trying to enter my car, however, for the immediate area, that seemed out of character. I would stay there again, it would be nice if there was a hotel bar, even a small one.

Sightseeing tip: Short walk from hotel

I like to walk for exercise, directly behind the hotel there is a commercial area that is perfect for walking as it gets very quiet after 4pm with very little traffic.

Not the place for a shower...

I'll preface this by saying that I have worked in the hospitality industry in the past; however, my expectations are graded with the brand and fairly modest in general: clean rooms, functional equipment, and minimal errors by employees. I've stayed at Country Inn & Suites several times before and enjoyed it immensely; this particular one was an exception, and I've also noted that it is transitioning to a Ramada. With that said, on with the review... I checked in for 3 nights (business trip) and went to take a shower in the evening. There was an odd dial in the shower (rounded like a shallow, upside-down bowl) that presumably needed to be rotated left or right. When I turned it, there were clicking noises but no water would come out. I called the front desk to report the issue (the room number on the phone was actually different from my real room number). Someone eventually came up (about 30 minutes later, after I had called again) thinking that I just didn't have hot water. No, I didn't have water at all. He confirmed as much and transferred me to another room. In this next room, the water worked well but I had no control over the temperature. It went from very cold to a temperature far more extreme than "hot" -- we're not talking "let me adjust to this hot tub" sort of hot -- we're talking scalding, boiling, hot. At first I thought this swing back and forth was due to minute adjustments I kept making on the dial; then I stopped making the adjustments altogether, and the wild swings in temperature continued (happening on their own). I basically just jumped in and out about 20 times over the course of the shower and used the cold segments to get the soap off of me. This happened the next morning again and throughout the duration of my stay; it was just the way the water worked. On the first night, the bedside alarm went off at 1:00am. I unplugged it and left it unplugged for the duration of my stay. This clock was also off by 15 minutes so it wasn't particularly worthwhile in the first place. It's also worth noting that the sheets had some very disconcerting stains all over them that probably should have been bleached before being put back on the bed. The most frustrating thing, however, was that I was locked out of my room every day I was here. The first day they said it was because I'd switched rooms (even though they'd given me new keys). The next day they said it was because the new keys they'd issued had just been for one day. (Really? You issued new keys without checking to see how long my stay was?) The final day they didn't offer any explanation, but I was checking out so they just let me in and I packed and left. What made this difficult was that the hotel is divided into three different buildings. To get to my room required walking through building one, walking through a courtyard (in freezing weather: it was 17 degrees last night), walking up 3 flights of stairs, scanning my card on the outside of the building, walking down a lengthy hallway, and finally scanning into the room. My hand were full in the evenings with work paperwork from the day and food and drink for the evening. Walking all the way back down just to get new keys for my room each day became a frustrating routine during my stay here. Oh, and the Internet was so slow that it took over two minutes just for google.com to load. Gave up and used my phone's data connection instead of hotel wifi. Here's a pro: the breakfast buffet was pretty good. Still, overall it was not an experience anywhere close to the money I paid for it.

Reasonable business hotel

Hot offerings at the free breakfast was a nice touch in a hotel in this price category. Ambiance was also a bit above average, nice lounge in lobby, inner courtyard with some nice landscaping. The big negative was poor plumbing, the shower temperature would swing back and forth between tepid and scalding.

perfect for an inexpensive trip

The staff was polite and helpful. While showing some age, the room was clean, spacious, and comfortable. Highly recommend this hotel for those wanting to visit the space center.

worse stay ever

I was really disapointed with the quality of this Hotel. The room was the furthest room from the front desk and I was directed to walk to the building through pouring rain rather than walking through the building. I was led to believe there was a restaurant on site but no such luck. Again I had to walk through pouring rain to the lowbudget restaurant next door. I was also told I would have a ride available to the airport in the early AM. Not true, the driver wssnt available unti 9:00am. The room was cold and drafty. The bath was not properly cleaned or supplied and the shower temp was scalding hot. No cold water. Terrible place in my oppinion. The only enjoyment was the driver of the shuttle van who was also the maintenace person. Very nice young man.

Excellent comfort at an affordable price!

I typically don't sleep well in hotels, but this one was a welcome exception! The bed was very comfortable and the sheets and pillows smelled very fresh and clean. Even the towels were soft, unlike so many other scratchy towels in other (higher-priced) hotels. I was surprised to find that my room even came equipped with a refrigerator and microwave. I only needed the room for a single night and didn't end up needing these amenities, but in the down-sizing and scaling back in hotel rooms that I've seen over the past 10 years, these small comforts were very nice to see. And although my interaction with the staff was limited to check-in and check-out, both women were very friendly and courteous and I can't imagine the experience being any better. I only wish I'd taken note of their names so I could thank them both personally here. Lastly, I must say that breakfast was very decent. I usually don't waste my time on the free hotel breakfast because it's usually quite awful (even at other, pricier hotels in which I've stayed). But I gave this Country Inn & Suites a try and I was not disappointed. The waffle was great and the eggs were good. The only reason for not giving a better review on the food is that the eggs were omelette-like with what seemed to be Velveta in the middle (though maybe American cheese instead). I rather detest Velveta and don't especially like American cheese either, so the cheese detracted from the eggs a bit, though to be fair, I didn't double check to see if there were cheese-free eggs being served as well. But all-in-all, I enjoyed a very filling breakfast without having to look elsewhere. I will DEFINITELY stay in this Country Inn & Suites again next time I visit Huntsville! Great job, guys!
