Normal run of the road hotel, nothing special but adequate for an overnight stay on the road to somewhere else. You need to have a reason to be in Decatur.

A nice manager greeted us and moved our rooms closer together. The rooms were clean and spacious. One of the TV remotes did not work but what the heck. The towels and sheets were clean but a little worn. It was in a good location for eating and shopping. Overall a very good value.

La Quinta Inn Decatur
This hotel is average for the rate. Overall, it's fairly clean and in a decent part of town with lots of places to eat nearby. The staff was friendly and accomodating. But it is an older building with lots of cracks, chipped paint, etc. [...]

overall is worth the money
I stay at this particular hotel everytime I am working in the northern AL area. Overall I am satisfied with the facility. I've stayed at this hotel maybe 10 times and have never had a bad experience. The staff is very nice. It is 6-7 miles from I-65 however it is in a great location with lots of restaurants, shopping and even Starbucks across the street. The only thing I do not like about the facility itself is that there is not an elevator...so if you do not want to drag all your luggage up a flight of stairs I would request a 1st floor room.

Not quite as expected
The hall smelled like cigarette smoke and the stair case was not clean. On the 2nd floor, the rooms on the right side of the hall were smoking rooms and the ones on the left were non-smoking rooms, so my non-smoking room still had a smoking smell. The air conditioning unit was loud and the room needed to be updated as the plaster on the wall surrounding the air unit was chipping off and rusty. Check out according to this website was noon. At 11 a.m., staff came around knocking on doors telling us we had missed check out. Not a really good experience.

La Quinta not nice
Once again we requested that we have adjoining rooms with our daughter and her family. We asked with a week and 1/2 notice but still we were 1/2 floor apart. This time we had no towels in our room and we didn't notice it until we wer ready to take our showers. Not very convenient. There was a whole group of boy softball players that were running the halls. One of them even pulled a fire alarm. The rooms all need maintenance - cracked floor tile, cracked walls, toilets that don't flush properly. We won't go back!

Smoky hotel
Asked for non-smoking room but ended up with a smoking room. Needed maintenance. Was 6 miles from the interstate and was not easy to find. The brochure I picked up at a rest stop was totally upside down so we travelled several miles in the wrong direction.
