Fabulous very nice hotel and staff. The area needs too be patrol by police. Lots of bums in the area close by. But lotts of good places to eat and walk. And so many cool shops around. Highland package store has the best selection of wine and beer. Love the hotel they bring you ice. I will visit agin Thank you % point

Great Stay!
When I arrived I was greeted by the lady at the front desk who was very accomodating and friendly. She told me about all of the restaurants and bars located around the hotel and the service was just excellent! I was very impressed with the hotel overall. The room was very clean and the bed was super comfortable! The hotel bar was amazing and very interesting. The bartender was very friendly. I read reviews about the hotel before going and I found out about the parking deck behind the hotel which was only $4 a day compared to valet parking which would have been $14 so that was a plus. The elevator was broken from the parking deck but that was not an issue only having to walk down two flights of stairs. I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone staying in Birmingham. The five points area is a great place to stay! I will definitely be back as soon as I can! Thanks!

Short walk from hotel
Use the parking deck behind the hotel. It is only $4 dollars a day and you just take the stairs and you come right out behind the hotel very accessible!

Hotel is great: location could be better.
This hotel is really good. The staff is friendly. It has a really good free breakfast in the morning. The only bad part is the location. Five Points just has to many street bums hanging around. The city needs to do something about that. Really, that issue is not the hotel's fault.

Boutique hotel
Nice boutique hotel. Rooms very clean and uniquely decorated. Very comfortable bed. Small lobby and bar make it very quaint. The neighborhood around the hotel is more comfortable if you are not traveling alone. I would not want to walk around unaccompanied or go to the adjacent parking garage after dark.

Nothing special
This hotel was not that great at all, the location was bad. There were homeless people walking around the building I did not feel safe walking to local restaurants nearby. The exercise equipment is old and outdated. I would recommend staying at a national chain such as Marriott etc.

Good but can use some improvements
Cool, interesting hotel at great 5 Points location. Internet connection (wireless) was very unreliable on this trip (previous trip it was ok). Parking at $18/day is high plus you have to use a valet (tips). I would still stay at this hotel though. Staff is friendly, decor is cool, and at night they have live music in their lounge. For some reason however, at 10:30 PM, some loud music comes from some source (nearby clubs?) and is a little annoying when trying to sleep but the windows do block out a good deal of it. Their breakfast is decent too.

1 night stay
Wife and I used this hotel because it is located close to a special restaurant we occasionally go for dinner. It is not in the best area of Birmingham...I was hit on for money while getting out of my car. The common areas of the hotel are in need of attention. Although the hotel is old, the room was very good...art decco style. No heat control in the room which is a pain.

Hotel Highland@ 5pts
Hotel was nicely designed and pretty comfortable but had a lingering dank smell. The bathroom sink had drainage problems and the room also lacked desired amenities like a refrigerator and microwave. Also room keys had to be taken to the front desk to be recalibrated every 24 hours because they would stop working. On a positive note the hotel is in a nice location, walking distance from several restaurants/bars and a couple of dance clubs. Overall the hotel did not meet my expectations taking into account the expense.
