Great value

Great Value - Great Location
Hyatt Place is a clean, attractive hotel with modern look and feel unlike many other value priced hotels that look stuck in the 70s. Hyatt takes style pointers from big brother Hyatt. Purchased through [...] resulted in unbeatable rate. Only downside, as is the case with most similar chains, is the breakfast bar. They seemed overwhelmed by the volume of people coming through and didn't have the option for a to-go plate or tray to facilitate in-room breakfast given the lack of seating downstairs. Room layout is goofy/atypical, but stylish. We prefer the layout of a Homewood Suites, but decor of Hyatt Place. Check-in and out clerk was outstanding. Personable and accommodating!

"No Complaints"
Stayed at this hotel while visiting Talladega Speedway. Air conditioning in room not as cool as I like, but otherwise ok. Not as nice as some of the other Hyatts I have visited.

Unbeatable room for the price
The staff was most accomodating to our personal needs.Inverness is a corporate area and since it was a weekend stay traffic was to a minimum. Fantastic shopping and restaurants nearby and just far enough from the city to appreciate the tranquility and quietness.The free continental breakfast was fresh and nutritious.If ever in the B'ham area soon The Hyatt @Inverness will be my choice

Hyatt Place is THE Place!
My wife and I were in Birmingham to see the Trans-Siberian Orchestra at the BJCC Arena downtown. I had originally planned to stay at another hotel right by the arena, however, they were full. That's when I found Hyatt Place and I don't regret it a minute. When we checked in, before even getting our keycard, we were told there were some minor issues with the carpet in our room and would we like a complimentary hot breakfast for the trouble. Sure, why not. Then as it turned out we got a different room, and the breakfast. That's taking care of your guests. We arrived right before a college bowl game and half the 'home' fans seemed to be in our hotel, but we only heard them once or twice. No big deal! Breakfast was excellent, even the always free continental portions, complete with excellent coffee, juice and toasted english muffins or bagels. The room was comfy, and everything worked perfectly. The high-speed WIFI rivaled some wired networks in speed (I'm in IT), and the mini fridge even froze a can of tea we put in it - my wife had turned it all the way, being used to other hotels fridges! Of course it wasn't all roses. We were next to the elevator and it was kinda noisy, but we just turned on the heater/fan and no more elevator noise. Also one of the elevators had duct-taped plywood on the floor, but it was secure and not a problem. These blemishes let me know they were human after all and not 'perfect' robots. I'd never want a Stepford wife OR hotel! All in all, a wonderful experience and I wouldn't stay anywhere else in Birmingham in the future.

You gotta try Carraba's just up the street from the Hyatt. Excellent food, wonderful people, and a bread pudding that is out of this world!

Great for couples!!
I had picked my husband up from the airport and we were only spending one night, but it was great! The hotel was beautiful, and the staff was very helpful! The continental breakfast was great too!

The Good and The Bad
I had made reservation through Orbitz approximately two month out for one night in a king bed. When we checked in and got to the room, we had a nice room with a full bed. I called the desk and was told that they were booked up and no kings were available. I commented that that was unacceptable and a room was located across from the ice machine on the first floor. It had to be the noisiest room I have ever stayed in. A number of school groups were in the hotel for a soccer tourney and I think they all must have used the ice machine. Staff was very nice, breakfast was ok. Hotel across the street from the Superior Grill. One the best Tex/Mex restrurants you will find. I actually would stay here again and just try to get a better room location.
