Comfort Inn Birmingham

There was nothing about this hotel that I would consider reasonable other than the rooms had beds in them. From the very first approach to this hotel, it was apparent that this was a bottom feeder motel. The place was nasty. The Lobby smelled bad, The elevators had missing pieces out of the control panels so you could see wiring behind the control panels. The ice machine on the floor leaked and and the apparent fix was to replace the towel around the machine. Insode the room the bathroom out let didn't work; the outlet on the entertainment wall didn't work; the ceiling light fixture and the exhaust louver were falling out of the ceiling. The hair dryer in the bathroom had fallen out of the wall and was hanging by the cord. I fixed the escutcheon around the sprinkler head, which, if a fire had occured the head would not have operated properly. Most significant was that this room smelled so bad, I thought about moving to another motel. I understand the need for the hospitality business to provide smoking rooms, but these are supposed to have ionization devices run in them occasionally---this room smelled like and ashtray. I would never consider staying here again---

I was there for a quick overnight; in late, out early. The room was comfortable and clean, the check-in very simple, parking lot safe and well-lit, and the bathroom well-stocked.

Not the fanciest place, but well kept and clean. Staff are friendly. Free wireless internet is a VERY nice touch. Walking distance to great bar-B-cue (Jim N Nick's) floods the place with mouth watering aroma (unless you are vegetarian).
