A comfortable home base for Alaskan adventures

Hotel Doesn't Look Like Picture
The hotel was OK. When you look at the picture it shows a neat hotel located high on a hillside. this motel is on a flat city block. The rooms are average, the breakfast was average but the rooms weree spacious and clean. Expect average and you won't be disappointed.

Short drive from hotel
Mike's Palace is the most active spot in town. Food is above average. Very busy so expect a short wait. Mike is no longer around it is run by an Asian Lady named Lee.

They are in the midst of some exterior renovations, and I hope they work on the interior also. Mainly the plumbing. The sink and toilet were both slow to drain and the shower was weak and difficult to control the temperature. Other than that, my husband couldn't get to sleep and said the room was stuffy. (I slept fine.)

Perfect stay
We were traveling with my 86 year old mother in law. When there was no double room on the main floor, they quickly provided us with two rooms instead for the same cost. They took the initiative to extend this service. In addition, throughout our two night stay, everyone we came in contact with at the hotel was very congenial and helpful.

Senior Citizens
Clean, Comfortable and Cozy
Since we were there just a short bit of time checking in at 8:30pm and leaving at 8:30am the next day, we had very little time to use all that was available to us. Our room was very inviting after being outside all day at an airshow in a rather cold day! We had a nice meal across the road from our Hotel before retiring early to get a good restful sleep in a very quiet room. We had a nice complementary breakfast at the hotel before checking out. If we had come to Valdez the day before, we would have had more time to really take advantage of all that was offered. We will definately book this hotel again should the opportunity arise.

Convenient in Valdez
Check-in and check-out were efficient. Rate was reasonable. Breakfast was convenient and good (some fresh fruit would have improved it). Walking distance to the small boat harbor, some restaurants and boat tours. The bedding and curtains were surprisingly modern and attractive. Exterior is not much to look at, but the Valdez setting makes up for that. Good basic lodging with friendly staff.

Just another hotel
We were there to fish so we spent limited time in our room. There was no elevator so we had to drag our luggage up the stairs. I selected this hotel because it was new and had a pool but the pool was very small. The spa was so hot that we only stayed in for 10 minutes. The room was comfortable and clean.
