You couldn't ask for a more friendly, helpful staff. The restaurant is great as well! But there is no longer a fitness room but they say it maybe re-incorporated later. Pool's annual maintenance is also conducted during this time of year as it is the off season.

The rooms were clean, comfortable, and were roomier than most hotels I've stayed in. The exercise room was closed but the pool was the perfect temperature and had adults only from 9p-11p. The in hotel restaurant/bar had awesome food but was a little pricey. Awesome value for $89 /night!!!

Upon checking in, we discovered that the hotel has an antiquated heating system which des not permit temperature to be regulated by tenants in an indvidual room. The only relief from the heat was to open the windows. The hotel shows its age - rugs in the lallways are worn, and floorboards creaked. There was no elevatorr, and we had to lug two heavy suitcases up a flight of stairs. The attendant at the front desk could not have beem more helpful, and reassigned us to a cooler room on the lower level, which we should have requested when checking in. Food and service in the attached restaurant was very good however. Parking lot was unpaved and full of bumps, but that seems to be standard for some parts of Alaska.

The hotel was OK. When you look at the picture it shows a neat hotel located high on a hillside. this motel is on a flat city block. The rooms are average, the breakfast was average but the rooms weree spacious and clean. Expect average and you won't be disappointed.

They are in the midst of some exterior renovations, and I hope they work on the interior also. Mainly the plumbing. The sink and toilet were both slow to drain and the shower was weak and difficult to control the temperature. Other than that, my husband couldn't get to sleep and said the room was stuffy. (I slept fine.)

We were traveling with my 86 year old mother in law. When there was no double room on the main floor, they quickly provided us with two rooms instead for the same cost. They took the initiative to extend this service. In addition, throughout our two night stay, everyone we came in contact with at the hotel was very congenial and helpful.

Since we were there just a short bit of time checking in at 8:30pm and leaving at 8:30am the next day, we had very little time to use all that was available to us. Our room was very inviting after being outside all day at an airshow in a rather cold day! We had a nice meal across the road from our Hotel before retiring early to get a good restful sleep in a very quiet room. We had a nice complementary breakfast at the hotel before checking out. If we had come to Valdez the day before, we would have had more time to really take advantage of all that was offered. We will definately book this hotel again should the opportunity arise.

Check-in and check-out were efficient. Rate was reasonable. Breakfast was convenient and good (some fresh fruit would have improved it). Walking distance to the small boat harbor, some restaurants and boat tours. The bedding and curtains were surprisingly modern and attractive. Exterior is not much to look at, but the Valdez setting makes up for that. Good basic lodging with friendly staff.
