Home comfort away from home.
The Sodotna Inn was one of the only things good about my trip to Soldotna. The staff was friendly, the room was warm and well stocked and very comfortable for my family of 4. The continental breakfast was also well stocked and the homemade muffins were nummy.

Dining tip:
Short drive from hotel
If you are in need of a place to watch your favorite sports team, head to Buckets, it's right across from Fred Meyers on the Sterling Hwy. The food is incredible and they have plenty of big screens to watch your team and they also have a speaker on which you can select the tv that's playing your game so you dont have to try to read the refs lips to figure out what's going on.

Comfortable & Clean
I've seen the other review here and I almost didn't stay. I don't know what hotel they were at but it clearly wasn't this one. It was a nice clean place imo. The staff seemed attentive and friendly, they had a nice continental breakfast, wi-fi. And the restaurant is amazing!! But back to the hotel...my room wasn't a NY dynamo or anything as far as decor goes but it was perfectly acceptable and clean and I would definitely stay again. Rate was up there a little but most everything in town is about the same price. Thats what happens during tourist season in Alaska!

In Hotel
Go to Mykels and get the Cornflake Chicken w/mango salsa. It is to die for!! Also even though you won't see burgers on the fancy dinner menu, they will definitely make you one and they are very good. Ask for an A1 burger, they are the best.

Soldotna Inn
When we arrived, we were made to wait while a room was located and then while the person helping us decided make us wait longer while he helped someone else who called in to make a reservation. We returned from a long day and had to actually move furniture to be able to set up a roll-away bed. When we moved the love seat that was in the room, we found a Penthouse magazine on the floor underneath. The commode was stuck trying to fill all night as an additional annoyance. When check out time came, I waited at the counter while the same person who made us wait the day before made me wait longer while he watched television. After about three minutes I finally got his attention and was able to check out. The overall visit was not all it should have been. We requested two beds and were advised that pets were welcome. When we arrived, we were given a room with only one bed and were told that this was the only room available that pets were allowed in. I just feel that this was an unfortunate choice of places to stay and will not recommend it to anyone else.
