Shee Atika Totem Square Inn

The location was great- right in the heart of downtown Sitka. you can walk to restaurants, shops and harbors. The rooms were small and rather plain, for the price it wasn't well appointed and it's an older hotel that could really use a bit of spiffing up. The dining room located in the same building but not part of the hotel itself was o.k. and for the area, reasonably priced. All in all the Shee Atika was clean and served it's purpose well.

Filthy hotel...I usually don't care but shower was covered with hair and rug in room was stained badly on almost the entire rug...dark stains on a light rug. Room had an old, stale smell like grease. If you opened the window the smell from the chineese restaurant across the parking lot was no better than the room smell. I asked to change to a better room and was told they were all about the same...checked out early-

Enjoyed the hotel and location. However, a bit of a balls up with the booking. I thought that I had booked a 'double room' - i.e., a double bed, but turns out it was a twin room. Had to change and it cost me another $30 or so a night. Why is a room with 1 bed more expensive than a room with 2 beds? I wasn't too pleased about that. We booked your hotel to support the locals and not a national chain of hotels.

The staff was friendly, and the room was clean and comfortable. We arrived after midnight, and only had one day to spend in town, so had to check out before heading off to sight-see, so looked forward to our complimentary breakfast. When we entered the breakfast room, found no hot food, as is often offered at other hotels. I am not a coffee drinker and was dismayed to find the juice dispenser was out of order, and no alternative juice source offered. That left milk, but only one type was offered, and I am not accustomed to drinking anything above 1% milk fat, so had to forego cereal as well. There was no fruit available, leaving only toast and cold water for me. Prior to booking, we had read a review stating that the staff was very accomodating with providing transportation. Our trip had us arrive by ferry, which they did not provide transport for, costing us $16 to ride a shuttle bus in late at night. They did provide a ride to the airport however, but even though it was quite close, they had set times to provide drop-offs and pick-ups, so we did not really get to choose our schedule. When we asked staff about local attractions, they handed us a map of town, but failed to tell us about available free transportation, causing us to walk several miles round-trip to see the raptor rescue center.

we ended up staying at a different hotel because they only had one room reserved for the 4 of us.

Staff was very accomadating and personable, room was clean, bathroom not too small. Was there on a weekend and there was night time noise from the bar across the street. Heard conversations from next rm, however tv drowned them out. Shuttle was convenient and on-time.

Hotel was very nice, ammenities were great.

Our experience was very positive. We were greeted with bottled water every time we came into the Inn.They always have baskets of fruit for their guests to take a piece from.They were always willing to help in any way they could. They readily supplied phone numbers or rides back to the airport so we could pick up a rental car.And the room was clean,a very important thing to me!
