Great place to stay, especially when staying in town for more than a couple days. Each room has a full kitchen with dishes, appliances & utensils, a separate bedroom w/ walk-in closet, furnished living room, and a dining area. Recently upgraded
digital television service with increased channel choices. A great home away from home!
I loved staying at this hotel! The staff were so nice, friendly and always helpful. Chelsea helped answer some of my questions over the phone before I went there. It is best to call and ask them about your concerns since I have learnt from my
travels that different hotels in different States operate a little differently. They have a shuttle service from and to the Fairbanks International Airport. BUT like all other hotels in Alaska, when you get to the airport you have to call them using the courtesy phone at airport to tell them you have arrived and ready to be picked up. They will send a shuttle to pick you up in about 10 to 15 mins.
Steve, the driver at the Wedgewood was very nice, courteous and well conversed. I loved travelling with him.
The location is very central and I loved the fact that the different tour guides knew where this hotel was so pick up and drop off was no issue.
The landscape of this hotel in winter was heavenly. There is a wildlife refuge next to the hotel so a walk during a subfreezing winter morning was very nice, managed to see a Moose! BUT be careful around wildlife.
Their kitchen is closed during winter but there are many nearby restaurants and cafes, instead of cooking at the hotel try going out to try local delicacies.
Hotel features (5 = best, 1 = worst):
Try the auto museum and the wildlife refuge next to the hotel
I tried this hotel because of the price but soon realized that most of the features were unavailable in the off-season. It looks like it would be a great place when the restaurant are open or the internet cafe and the shuttles are running. However
it probably costs more then also. I just needed a quiet place to relax and this was one of the best prices in town. If you are willing to do some walking or have a car then this is the place to go.
