Great Spot in FAI

I was very impressed with this hotel. The airport shuttle took less than 5 mins to arrive. The lobby is a welcoming and ... comfortable gathering spot. You could feel comfortable reading a book down there. The room was filled with lots of little extra nice touches. I usually don't like these in small hotels.. because they come off as cheesy and i'd prefer to just have clean minimalist over anything questionable...but this hotel pulls it off. you feel like you're in someone's home. The Front desk was professional and efficient. The restaurant across the parking lot that shares the hotel's name had excellent food, and a good variety. The Hotel is located right at the access point of a river so the view is nice.. you don't feel like you're in a strip mall, and there seems to be lots of activities available right at the hotel. The hotel van will also drive you to other major spots nearby at no charge. In short... it's where I'll stay next time and where I'll tell others to stay as well. *I have stayed at two other major hotels in FAI.. but this is by far my favorite.

You can't tell when you're at the hotel, but it's literally 2 minutes from the airport.. and no traffic.. so you can take a little extra time getting ready in the morning instead of having to leave 45 mins or an hour early to make sure you'll get to the airport in time.

Great Spot in FAI

The service was outstanding. The lodge was quiet and the rooms were spacious and clean. The neighboring restuarant was ... understaffed, but the lodge's stepped up and held open the inhouse dining area late so we could get a bite to eat.

We are follow Alaskans going to Fairbanks for a mini vacation this winter and enjoyed our stay. The Pikes Landing Restaurant ... next door was hospitable and the food was top notch. We also enjoyed the cookies and all the animal mounts. On the down side, we stayed in room 220 and the hallway carpet between the room and the elevator presents a tripping hazard and needs to be replaced.

Pikes Waterfront Lodge has beautiful Alaskan decor with great antiques. The location is excellent with great scenery on the ... Chena River. I was impressed that they gave us a fair price during the busiest time of the year. The room was clean and comfortable. One of the best steak houses in town is right next door. I would stay here again.
