the good and just a little bad
Convenient to shopping, banks, main highway, and a few restaurants. Good starting point for tourist attractions, most within a 50 mile radius (hey, it's Alaska!) Polite and helpful staff, clean facilities, nice breakfast (more than we could begin to eat...with some small changes daily...not bored with breakfast after a 6 night stay.) Only down side, we stayed in until about 10 AM daily with 'do not disturb' sign out. Missed getting the bed made and fresh towels one day, although the cleaning ladies/maids were supposed to check the rooms twice a day to make sure no one was missed. But clean towels and clothes were promptly delivered when I told them of oversight. Comfortable bed and chair, big TV, and hidden microwave and refrigerator made it seem a 'cut aove'. I would definitely stay there again.

Plan your activities by distance and general area. You can fit more in your stay and avoid driving over the same road twice just to get to a further out attraction.

Good location, easily accessible.
This was our second time at this hotel. It is new and has a very friendly and cooperative staff. It offers an easily accessible business center, a variety of healthy and tasty options for breakfast, including hot and cold cereal, eggs, breads, etc. This time our room was not cleaned some days and not until evening, and only after we inquired. The location of our room faced the highway and was noisy with the traffic.

Visit Chena Hot Springs Resort & the Ice Museum there. Pipeline viewing area only 4 miles out. The Chatanika Lodge restaurant right on Steese Highway was a real adventure--neat stuff inside with an old gold dredge across the street thats been there since the 1920s, not in operation since 1964--can go inside it too if you're brave!
