An Awesome Trip

We were only in the area two nights and three days but had a truely awesome stay. Saw the mountain for two days with plenty of wildlife between the highway and the Savage River turnaround. Found dining to be less expensive right at the Creekside Cabins and the Pizza house next door than up the road at the normal tourist traps. Would stay at the McKinley Creekside Cabins again without a doubt. Truely enjoyed our stay at the Cabins. Recommend spring time travel to see the animals and late August or early September for the beauty of the park and the fall colors. The colors were absolutely beautiful.

Great place

Cute cabins in a great location in Denali National Park. Just 15 miles from park entrance in a beautiful location. Cabins are pretty basic but have all you need. What it lacks in amenities (it's a rustic setting, you can't expect more) it more than makes up in staff friendliness and helpfulness. Great little restaurant. You can buy sacked lunches for you excursion into Denali. Only stayed one night; wished we could have stayed longer.

Near Denali

Very neat and clean cabins near a creek about 10 miles from Denali National Park. Cabins are small; however, a bargain for the area and well maintained. Restaurant on grounds serves excellent meals with caring and competent staff. We would not hesitate to return. While visiting Denali recommend taking the 13 hour Katishna Tour of the Park -- It travels the 92 miles through the Park with a stop for lunch and activities in Katishna -- Old gold mining site of Eureka, Alaska.

Excellent Location

Excellent picture oppotunities at the hotel. Great food but it takes a while to cook it. They cook from scratch. Bring CD player with CD's since there is no TV or radio stations.

One notch above summer camp

the room was small and fairly clean. But without many amenities we have come to expect for the price. Cozy, but only one notch above a summer camp cabin.

If you can, be sure to drive the Denali Highway (Hwy 8) It is mostly gravel and dirt road for the majority of its 130 miles, but is vista after incredible vista of majesty. Oh, and musn't forget the wildlife viewing opportunities are also great.

A cabin is a cabin

There was six of us traveling. Five frist timers and one aunt who lives here. We were going from Fairbanks to the south. It was a one night stay and the room was smaller than what we pictured. We had to split up and get another cabin next property. They are very basic cabins and comfortable. The place is quiet and we just needed a one night stop. I would not stay with that group again. There is not much for the older generation.

Great Hotel

In general it was great. A phone and perhaps a TV would have been better.
