You haven't fully experienced Alaska unless you've been to Denali National Park. Its boundaries encompass an amazing six million acres -- the size of the state of Massachusetts. Home to Mt. McKinley, North America's highest peak soaring an unbelievable 20,320 feet into the sky, the Park hosts an array of wildlife -- from moose, caribou, Dall sheep and grizzly bears to gray wolves and red foxes. Located only one mile from the Park's entrance, Denali Princess Wilderness Lodge is the premium riverside accommodation in the area. An expansive deck overlooks Denali National Park and the Nenana River -- the ideal spot to relax, visit with friends and savor the exquisite landscape. Located in Denali National Park

Perfect as a starting point for the tour to the natural reserve of Denali.

You can participate in tours of the morning and afternoon, to see animals with different habits. A variety of restaurants within the hotel or nearby allows to satisfy all preferences. The wireless internet (despite running only the lobby) allowed me to stay connected with my business. Access to the car park and were also good.

Not Worth the $$$

Rude front desk service. Rude restaurant staff (spilled coffee all over me, my food, and drink) and did not fix or say sorry. Pub and pizza were good but over all, not worth the $. Stay somewhere else. Pretty upset since I've been an AK resident for 14 years and this is what people experience when they visit. Sad.

Great for the road lottery

Our room was quiet, clean and comfortable, although it took a while for it to warm up. We ate at the bar & grill - the place was packed, but we got seats by the window in minutes, and our food was out even before our drinks were served. The $99 end of season price is why we chose this hotel, but I would return next time we win the road lottery.

Wonderful visit

We stopped here overnight to visit Denali National Park. We found everything to be in top notch shape. Lots of help available to show us what our options were and what would work best with our schedule. Very hospitable.

The Denali National Park Shuttle Bus service provides frequent daily bus rides into Denali Park, stops to take pictures of animals, drops off people wherever they desire etc. You choose how far you ride into the park. This is much less expensive than formal tours. It does not include a formal tour guide. Our bus driver, however, was friendly, had a speaker system in the bus and shared much with us and answered questions.

over-priced and uncomfortable

The Denali Princess Lodge was very over priced for the service and accomodations that you receive. To start there is not enough parking. We had to park about a quarter mile from our rooms and then carry our luggage to our rooms as there were no carts on the property that we had access to as guests. Perhaps if we had been able to park in front of the hotel, this would not have been the case. But we cannot say as we were NEVER able to park in front of the hotel. The fan in our bathroom did not work, so the room was constantly damp from the moisture of the shower. There is only one resturant open for breakfast and it cost $12 for undercook, runny eggs and overcooked bread pudding being called french toast. The beds were the most uncomfortable I have ever slept on. About like sleeping on a slab of plywood. And as an added bonus, the curtains do not close all the way. When we mentioned this to the desk staff we were given the suggestion by the clerk that she just uses her hair claw to hold them closed. Which brings me to another point of dissatisfaction. The staff of the hotel. The staff we had interaction with was either rude or just plain surley. We had the misfortune to witness a member of the waitstaff push and older woman out of the way without so much as an excuse me or an appology. We were appalled. For your money, I would suggest trying a different hotel. If they can't beat this hotel, then I'm sure they can match the horrible experience we had.

pricey but nice

My wife and I enjoyed our stay. The staff went out of there way to help. The room key would not work and when one of the staff came back with new keys, he said that he got us upgraded to a larger room next to the river.
