Beware!
Left wanting more spa, less hassle Oct 16, 2009
While traveling to Anchorage for my sister's wedding, we were very excited to see our room since we had booked the Junior ... Suite for an amazingly low price. When we arrived at the hotel to check in, not only did they give us the wrong room, but come to find out there was a NA conference of more then 300 recovering drug users including those bussed in from half-way homes and substance abuse centers. Then when we continued up into our room, we were given a standard king room instead of the Junior Suite we had booked. Come to find out that according to their front desk, [...] is not athorized to book suites since the hotel loses about $300 per night. Luckly for us we had printed out our paperwork at home that showed the room we had booked and payed for was a JS otherwise we would have been staying in and overpaid standard!

This was my first time staying there and I wont be my last. The Sheraton Anchorage Hotel & Spa is in a GREAT location thats ... easy to get to and to get out of. The rooms were small, but had a relaxing setting that puts a stressed person at ease. What would have been better was if the internet and parking were free. Besides that it was great.

Solid value in great location

This is right in the middle of downtown Anchorage, and a solid value. There were a few renovations going on, but they ... didn't interfere with coming and going. We had a minor problem early on, not being able to adjust the room temperature, but staff came up and solved the problem within a few minutes.

The hotel was very nice and comfortable. Rooms were clean. Wish there would have been a comfy chair in the room somewhere ... to read. No business center which was extremely difficult. Location is not too bad. Still close enough down town and the shuttle will take you down town. The best part was the lounge areas, coffee bar, and bar. I love it when I can get a great coffee first thing in the morning and then go for a nice run in the fitness center.

This was a very nice trip. My first to Anchorage. The hotel was very clean and the beds were VERY comfortable! The friendly ... and helpful hotel staff was a real plus. The van service around town was very helpful to me while my husband worked. We will book here again!

The location of the Sherton is convenient and within walking distance from the downtown shopping area of Anchorage. The ... hotel, however, is in need of a renovation. The room and furnishings looked tired and dated. The only coffee shop/restaurant is nice and clean but with a limited menu selection. The hotel staff were very friendly and helpful which made up for some of the the less than steller interior.

The Sheraton in Anchorage was an excellent last minute stay. I loved the room space however, the only dissapointment in the ... room was the size of the bathtub. It was quite small considering the rest of the room. The women's spa center was excellent. It was nice that it was open 24 hours, so after a long business meeting it was a great comfort to slip down there and chill out in the steam room. I tried to order some snacks of the snack list, but the room service wasn't available as it had said in their brochure, so that was another disappointment. However, I would stay there again if in town the next time around.

Sushi Sushi, a great new hip sushi restaurant located on the Old Seward Highway a few miles away. Would recomment highly to anyone visiting. Great service and friendly people and chefs. Love it.
