Filthy carpets

The first room that was assigned had a pet odor to it. Carpets all over the hotel and in the rooms were filthy looking with pet stains. The sheets looked ok but when I saw the floor, I did not want to sleep there. he phone was not plugged in and there was no cord to plug it in. The table lamp was either not plugged in or the outlet was bad, could not move the bed to get to it. The covers were falling off the heater vets, and there was not enough heat, so the room was cold and dark with a filthy looking floor. Should either be re carpeted or condemned all together.

Trip to Alaska

This Anchorage hotel is a converted military barracks, so very basic. However, the rooms were large and the beds comfortable. The hotel is in a residential neighborhood, across the street from a park and a lake where sea planes take off and land (visitors can go on sea plane rides for a fee, or just enjoy watching). The hotel offers a free shuttle to and from the Ted Stevens international airport, and also free wifi and free computer use in the lobby. They provide a light breakfast, no extra charge. The staff are friendly and helpful. They went out of their way to make sure we had what we needed. Decent place for a good value.

There should be a law...

Absolutely the worst lodging experience I have had in the past 3 or 4 years! The bed linens were dirty--at least the bath towel was clean, which I covered the very flat pillows to allow me to sleep when I could. The window mechanism was broken and window could not be closed allowing for noise off the busy adjacent street most of the night to repeatedly interrupt sleep. Metal supports from the bedframe jutted out beneath the box springs and were a hazard to walking around the bed safely. The front desk clerk was less than congenial, and gave the impression I was interrupting her. What a major, major disappointment especially at almost $150.00 for a 6-hour stay!!

stink pillows

The pillows stank and we didn't have a trash can in the room. After we told them about them, they did change them. I don't think I'm going back there again, as they didn't give us any reason to go back again, like a free night or something like that.

Convenient to the airport

The hotel was in an old army barracks so it was not overly nice, but it was very convenient to the airport and their shuttle was flexible to your schedule which was nice. The staff was very friendly.

I've stayed at much better

The room was not very clean and the fan was filthy that we had to use. The bed was lumpy. There was only 1 of everything in the bathroom and when asked for more towels or extra pillow, they didn't have any! There was no paper or pen in the room to jot down things and no comment card or the staff asking how the stay was. I do not recommend this hotel.

It's OK

The room was clean and big but they only had a shower stall in the bathroom. Everything was old and outdated and towels had holes. You had to keep the windows open if you wanted any kind of air flow and the windows were low so you could hear everyone in the parking lot all night from the second floor. However they did have soap shampoo and washclothes and with our experience with other hotels around town that's a big deal. We have come to realize that in Alaska customer service does not mean anything. They want their money get in get out.

Go to Walmaart! Great souveniers and THE place to buy your outdorr equipment. Don't forget a cooler and some snacks in case you are on the banks reeling them in and don't have time for lunch!

We had a late arrival ~ greeted by friendly folks with directions to the local Walmart. Nice comfy bed for the night. Great breakfast to get us started on our next adventure.
