Excellent Anchorage lodging option
JB frequent AK traveller Dec 2, 2009
Great option, especially for business travellers. Conveniently located in midtown Anchorage. Fantastic cooked-to-order ... breakfast and free drinks in nightly happy hour. Spotless rooms, very nice brand new building, impressive lobby with vaulted ceilings and fountain.

Carrs/Safeway grocery store in mall across the street - very handy for incidentals or food.

Staff went out of the way to be accomodating even though I didn't require it. They greeted me everywhere. Called to check on ... me. Offered suggestions for food and entertainment.

Started Bad but Got Better

I have stayed at this hotel numerous times but this visit was not the best. I arrived and there was no parking because of a ... conference. I had to park my new car in a dirt parking lot behind the hotel with deep ruts. We ordered some cheese and crackers that cost us $45!!! We had a prompt ride to our location and that was nice. Then next morning, we got the breakfast time a little off, so we were there at the last 5 minutes of breakfast. The cook was rude and rushed us as the rest of the staff was cleaning up and putting things away. We obviously just arrived. Someone should have checked with us to see if we needed anything before they put it away. Then we went back to our room and while my friend was changing, a man was knocking on our door. We told him we were still in the room. She knocked again. I walked towards the door and the man started opening it while my friend was dressing. We all started yelling . I locked the door and he knocked again. I opened it and he wanted to know when we were leaving. I called the manager and she was very apologetic. Then 10 minutes later, a woman knocked on our door to find out if we had left yet. The manager had just told us to take our time. When we went to check out after a not very relaxing morning, the manager was amazing. She remembered me from previous stays with my family. She took off the cheese tray from our bill, and promised a girl's night on them. She was obviously very sorry about what happened and stated that both employees had been talked with. I will stay again. It is a fabulous hotel and I truly believe the stars were stacked against us that night. My other experiences have been spectacular.

Use the available shuttle and save yourself some cab fairs. Chilkoot Charlies is always a great time and the shuttle can take you there and pick you up. This is a great service.

Beautiful Hotel
K2 May 11, 2009
My husband and I have stayed in many hotels throughout the years, including other Embassy Suites Hotels in other locations, ... but the service at this Hotel was unbelievable. When we arrived we were greeted by a friendly person at the front desk who checked us in and told us about all the amenities offered during our stay, including the breakfast the following morning. After a very comfortable stay in our lovely suite, we awoke the next morning anxious to go and enjoy our free breakfast, only to discover that breakfast had ended at 9am. It was now 10am and the girl at the front desk had told us that the breakfast ended at 10:30am. We realized that there was a piece of paper on the desk in our suite that the hotel must have placed before our arrival describing a change in breakfast times on May 10 (Mother's Day) because they were having a Brunch in the restaurant. Obviously we had not payed any attention to the piece of paper which was obviously our fault, but when we called the front desk they said they could work something out for us, since the girl the previous night had failed to tell us the correct hours of the breakfast. They ended up crediting the price of the brunch- which was an unbelievable meal by the way- off of our room so that we still ended up with a free breakfast---but a Mother's Day Brunch instead!!--What a deal!!!!
