Friendly staff, great breakfasts

We had a good stay overall. My biggest complaint is that they wanted to charge 9.95 a day for Internet use. I get that, but my husband and I each had laptops and were going to get charged almost 20 bucks a day just for Internet! When I called and complained the woman at the desk said they'd take the second charge off. The room was already almost 200 a day with taxes, etc. so I thought the extra expense was a bit much!

wi fi issues

They wanted to charge for every item connected to their wi fi. In this day of lap tops, ipads and cell phones, I would think one charge per room would be enough. Many hotels offer free wi fi these days. The first floor was cold!

Great place to stay

The hotel was very nice, the only complaint i have is about the quality of the food in the restaraunt. For the prices there are a lot better places to eat downtown. All in all it was a great hotel.

The ups and downs of staying at the Embassy Suites in Anchorage

I was staying in Anchorage for a 3 day conference and had extended my stay to visit my son who just moved up to Anchorage to go to school at UAA. The reason I picked this Embassy Suites is because they had shuttle service to Providence Hospital where my conference was. This was going to save me some money because I wouldn't have to rent a car; hence I was willing to pay the higher rate compared to some of the other local hotels in the area. I was shocked when I was told that the shuttle service suspends from 4 to 6 pm due to "rush hour" traffic. The reason it is "rush hour" traffic is because people need to go places during that time, of day, including me! I ending up befriending someone who would give me a ride the hotel after the conference at day. This is NOT recommended for a female traveler to have to rely on the kindness of strangers. I could have taken a cab or waited until 6pm for the shuttle service to start up again. The hotel was very nice, staff couldn't have been nicer, the complimentary breakfast was very good. the location was good for downtown and was close to the hospital. The only other concern I had was my room was cleaned every day. One of things I like about traveling is someone else makes my bed. It is just nice to come back to a clean room after a long day at a conference. When I asked the front desk about this they told me that they don't clean rooms daily with "extended stay " guests; I was staying 6 nights. I am sure I paid the same as some one who stayed 3 nights. Would I stay there again....I would have to think about it...but I might.

Disappointed but made best of it.

We were excited until we opened the door and saw that we would be sleeping on a small pull out sofa. We requested a roll a way bed but there wasn't one in the room. The room service was spendy for the quality of food, and we were double charged for it, but the wait staff was very kind and quick to fix the bill. I was under the impression that it would be this beautiful two room suite, but overall it was just as ordinary as any other hotel I have stayed at. The free complimentary beer was nice and the free lemon water in the lobby was as good as it got for us. Probably wouldn't stay again in the future.

Excellent hotel!!!

Location for us was great...we were visiting family and they are spread throughout Anchorage. The hotel and rooms were super clean, staff was friendly and price was right. I love how the bedroom is set off from the hallway so you don't hear people running through the halls. Breakfast was great...you have a choice of anything and everything. My only complaint is that the hot water is EXTREMELY hot. My three year old burned her hand trying to wash her hands. The water is scalding as soon as you turn it on. I complained to hotel and they sent maintenance up who treated us like we were stupid. Said there was nothing they could do and proceeded to show us how to use the sink (um, duh!). Other than having to be careful while showering or washing our hands, we loved the hotel!

Amazing!

One word- Amazing! We have stayed at many hotels in Anchorage and by far this hotel was the best overall experience we have had to date. The complimentary made to order breakfast was dynamic as was the evening reception. Such fun! The hotel staff were so nice, friendly and accomodating. The pool and workout room was wonderful and the hotel beautiful. The only thing I would have to say any negative about would be the beds were too hard. Other than that it was a wonderful experience!
