This motel lobby and room was dirty and the room had a window broken with glass missing. It was taped back together. I feared for my safety in this room. I would recommend that you do NOT stay at this motel.
This place advertises as having an airport shuttle, but no one was available to drive it, so I had to take a taxi from the airport. I had stayed here once before and one of the other guests had driven the shuttle to pick me up on that trip! Some
kind of centipede bug on my bed. Drunk woman screaming outside the room for well over an hour. Low price, but not worth the savings (blew it on a taxi anyway)
If you're just looking for a place to sleep, this is it
We needed a place to stay before jumping on the train early in the morning. In any other circumstances, EconoInn would be a huge ripoff, but this was Alaska in the summer, and this is about as cheap as you can get. The rooms are clean enough, the
staff competent enough, and surroundings (just) safe enough to make it worth the money. If we take the train again, this is probably where we'll stay.
This hotel is very old & run down. To their credit, they had just installed a new Air Conditioner / Heat Pump (the floor standing type that is sold at Costco). So, the temperature was okay, but the unit was extremely noisy.
The beds were
reasonably comfortable and the sheets & towels were clean on the first day. We stayed for 3 nights, and housekeeping never bothered to clean up the room after we had 'moved in'.
The carpets were old & smelly, some of the light bulbs were out, and the sink faucet was hooked up backwards (hot on the right, cold on the left... huh?)
There was a lot of transient activity around the hotel. The front desk staff did a good job of keeping them out of the hotel interior, but it still felt mildly unsafe when going out to the car.
Finally: The price. It seems hotels in Anchorage are extremely expensive. Still, that's no excuse for charging $108 per night for such a poor place.
Hotel features (5 = best, 1 = worst):
