Bright, fresh rooms and modern design characterize the Dimond Center Hotel. Owned by the Seldovia Native Association, this Alaskan hotel highlights distinctive art from the Kachemak Bay region. The lobby features comfortable conversation areas along two-story windows. Adjacent to the hotel, the Dimond Center mall offers a bowling alley, ice rink, movie theater, salons, dining and shopping. Seasoned Traveler
Disappointing
Location: I grew up in Anchorage and love the area near this hotel however it was not conveniently located - detached in the parking lot behind a large mall. Service: Staff was lackluster at best. When the hotel's hot water went entirely out and I was in a hurry to shower and meet my boss for dinner, the desk clerk was completely unapologetic and sounded rather irritated. When turning on both boilers made my fixtures rattle, the maintenance man told me they "don't usually even put people in that room." When the moved my room the next day, the housekeeper threw out my packaged food from the fridge and the desk clerk just shrugged and told me it was too bad. View: None Gym: You have to get a pass each time you go, it's across the parking lot and in the mall basement, well equipped but small and very dingy. Only plusses: Free parking, close to mall/stores

Great Value
Compared to other hotels in Anchorage, this was a great deal. The room was large. The morning breakfast had many options and the service was good. The morning staff was a lot more fun than the night staff so checking out was more fun than checking in but that would be my only negative if I had to give one. We would stay here again.

Great location but no Pool!
The room and Big soaking tub were great. Needs more bedside lighting though. It was advertised as having a pool but it didn't, they give you a pass to a nearby athletic club.

Over priced with no POOL!
The room was okay and the soaking tub was great but we were really disapppointed that there was no POOL. It lists that it has a pool in the amenities but it doesn't. They give you passes to a nearby fitness club that has a pool. I think its false advertising to list that you have a pool when you don't. will not stay here again!

Excellent!
The Dimond Center Hotel is our favorite place to stay in Anchorage for numerous reasons... it's a beautiful hotel, it is always clean, and the staff are so polite and positive. It's a great place to stay for bush Alaskans because it is close to shopping that can be shipped back to the village. We will continue to stay here when we're in town.

Great Rooms in Anchorage
I travel to Anchorage several times a year for business. During the summer months and during some native conferences in the winter, the hotels are mostly booked up. Because my travel is last minute by nature.. I have to take what I can find and have stayed in a wide variety of what Anchorage has to offer. Interestingly enough, this little hotel off in an odd location, has the nicest rooms of any hotel I've ever stayed at in Anchorage. Each room includes a 72" in room soaking tub... and a 48" flat screen tv. The ceiling is at least two feet higher than standard.. and for some reason that gives the room a feeling of great space. The hotel is located on the back side of the Diamond Center Mall which hasn't been updated since the 1980's... and is about half vacant...kind of sad.. and not really close to the best restaurants that Anchorage has to offer.. but they do have an unadvertised FREE Airport shuttle that will also drive you to other locations of interest around Anchorage.. and the hotel was spotlessly clean! The staff were hit and miss... I believe I had 4 interactions with the front desk counting check in and check out. Check in was very professional and cheerful. Check out was perfectly normal.. the two interactions between that, it was difficult to communicate with the people at the desk.. I think they have some training issues... so if you don't get the brightest of the bunch on the first try.. don't despair. Oh.. and the hotel was absolutely modern and spotlessly clean!

crummy customer service
after staying there for 5 nights i had to extend 1 more night. well it was going to take me a few hours to make payment and they only gave me one then made me leave. way to take care of your customers. [...] rooms ate very nice and well equipt, still ended up taking my business else where though.

Super comfy rooms
It was a great hotel experience. The room was the nicest I have ever had from a hotel. We found ourselves wanting to just go back to the hotel room to relax and watch T.V. at night instead of going out and doing anything else. It had a homey feel to the place. Breakfast was good, too!

Definetely try The City Diner. It is in and old fashioned metal diner style building and the food was just awsesome. Breakfast, lunch and dinner. The prices were low when compared to the quality. Do not go to the International House of Pancakes at 11000 Old Seward Hwy. Yuck! Horrible quality food. The one in Wasilla is good, though. Figure that one out.
