Great place to stay in Anchorage. Clean, quiet. Staff friendly. Excellent Cont. Breakfast. Only downside is they are ... changing the name to somthing else and could not say what it was going to be. I will positivly go back! If I Can find it!!

Stay away from any place, attraction, Hotel, or town in AK that has Motor Coach busses from the popular cruise lines. EVERYTHING will be overpriced, and you will be treated like so many cattle. Get your lodging and food in a nearby small town, and you will have a much better experiance.

OK Hotel
French Quarter Dude Sep 8, 2009
I didn't expect much and I wasn't disappointed. Nice enough but was too much off the main downtown area. After trying to have ... breakfast the first day, I gave up because it was too crowded and people were putting HUGE portions of fattening food on their plates and leaving no room (literally) for those who only wanted a light breakfast. Pool was out of order but who swims in Alaska? OK I guess...

Anchorage Hotel

The shuttle service from the airport was excellent. I called and the person was there in less than 5 minutes. We had ... another party arriving at a different terminal and the driver went to the other terminal and waited for the others to get their luggage and then drove us to the hotel. The next day we needed the shuttle service to take us to the convention center to be picked up by our cruise line bus. Although they did not normally take people to the convention center, they agreed to do so for free. A couple of people at the hotel told us no, but one person said we don't have anyone else scheduled for that time so we will put you on the list and take you. The convention center was only about 6 blocks from the hotel, but it saved us time and money that we would have spent on a taxi. Excellent customer service!

There was a show called the Aurora at the theater downtown. It was a very slow documentary and not worth the money we paid to see it. Don't waste your time going to see it.

Went very nice
chinomike Jun 6, 2009
Everything went pretty well, except for the first day we were there. There was some repairs and the workers were kind of ... lound and noisy just when we needed a rest. Other than that rooms were very clean and plenty of space. Pool was small, but only had time for fitness room anyway. Food was very good, specially at no charge. I was able to check in at 1:00 pm, which was a lot of help to me.

When I first checked in the key did not work in the lock. They were able to switch me to another room and everything was ... great. The hotel is very clean and the rooms are a nice size. My room had a little kitchen. I wish I was there for more than one night. I will definitely stay there again. Great value for the money. It is just a few blocks away from downtown Anchorage and has restaurants near by. Also parking was free.

My review of Hawthorn Suites LTD. - Anchorage
MICHAEL Aug 4, 2007
Our stay at the Hawthorn Suites in Anchorage was very nice. The staff was very helpful both at check in/out. The room was ... clean, comfortable and the lay-out is great (if you have a third party using the couch). The breakfast area was clean and well maintained throughout the meal time, and the menu provided a variety to choose from. I will be staying with them again in the future.

The Hawthorn Suites Ltd. is by far a great bargain for the money. The hotel is located a few blocks from the central hub of ... Anchorage, but not too far for a long walk. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The layout of the suite was like a small apartment. A separate living room area, with TV, that is capable of internet access, a very nice shower area, and my favorite, a large bedroom with king size bed and another TV. The bedroom also had a door for extra privacy. This hotel was definetly a pleasant ending for our trip and we give them a five star!!

The walk to downtown is a long stretch, if you have your own transportation, its easy access to all major roads in Anchorage.

great for family
Jennifer Jun 30, 2007
We had a great stay at the Hawthorne Suites. We were here while a friend was in the hospital. It was convenient to ... everything, and I was able to walk places with my daughter, while my husband had the car at the hospital. Breakfast is included, and was good. It was a great setup for us. We had a port-a-crib in the sitting area, and put our daughter to bed there. We were able to go in the bedroom and close the door and read or watch tv without keeping her awake. My only complaint is that they, like everyone else in Anchorage, charge exorbitant prices in the summer (they're half-price or less in the winter).
Traveler type: Family
We walked down to dinner at the Snow Goose Inn (avoid it was overpriced and not that great), then walked the coastal trail back to the hotel. Also, the Snow Flake Inn is good for lunch. It's across from Simon and Seyferths (which is excellent but hard to get into in the summer without reservations).
