A very good, first-class hotel, ideally located for visitors to the old town of York. ** Please also note that the hotel does not accept all male or all female group parties. Bookings may be cancelled if a single sex group is booked or refused entry to hotel upon arrival.** (GW 05/2009) A modern looking, pale brick building, set across 4 floors. Very attractive because the river flows directly at the side of the hotel. Limited parking available at the hotel, but must be pre-booked with hotel in advance. The Queens is located within the old city walls of York overlooking the river Ouse, and within the city centre.
Minutes from York Minster the hotel is perfectly located for leisure guests exploring the city, and also provides easy access to surrounding routes to cities such as Harrogate and Leeds.

The rooms are all large and spacious. All are in very good condition, as are the bathrooms. The room has all the facilities one would expect from a hotel of this standard such as coffee and tea making facilities, etc. Rooms are decorated in a simple design with brighter colours but in a good condition. Free WiFi is also available throughout the whole property.

The restaurant is a large, comfy room decorated in light colours and overlooking the river. The restaurant has a good reputation for its carvery dinners and has a very informal and relaxed atmosphere.

This is a great Hotel which is perfectly situated in the center of York. The rooms are spacious and very modern/clean. The breakfast was a full English buffet and was of high quality.
The staff were very helpfull and polite when approached. We
were upgraded to river view upon arrival which was a nice touch.
I will definately be stopping their again :)
Thanks for a great weekend Queens (and York ;) )

Short walk from hotel
Bella Italia and Lucio's are Italian restaraunts and are well worth the visit.
We were very pleased with this hotel. The staff was most helpful, the room was larger than most hotels in England where we have stayed before, and the restaurant was great: good food and reasonable prices.
Hotel features (5 = best, 1 = worst):
The breakfasts were wonderful and the dinners were very reasonably priced. We had dinnere there four out of the five nights we stayed.
good location, walking distance to both train station and most sights, nicely furnished room with mini bar, iron, etc. the service was good and so was the breakfast. overall very good service at a good price.
Very well located with large rooms with nice river views. As usual in England there is not value for money - the breakfast was served as a buffet with soggy scrambled eggs and burned bacon served in a crowded and boring room, the entire hotel
needs a good scrubbing and a lick of paint. We booked early for what turned out to be half term fall school break there were no spaces left in the parking garage when we arrived - if we'd known in advance we would have also booked a parking space. Who knew?
