Stayed in the building across
Stayed in the building across the road (Elmbank Lodge) and the room was dark, not very clean and poorly maintained. The double bed was two singles put together, with uncomfortable ridge down centre. Accommodation was best described as "adequate". Service at front desk and at breakfast (which was a buffet and not that good) was unhelpful and unfriendly. I would not stay there again.

Great location, only 10 minute
Great location, only 10 minute walk from the town centre, which I would recommend as taxi's are erratic. Wonderful decor in lobby and bar area, very charming. Room's are pretty basic and mine wasn't particularly warm, which was a shame as it was a very cold weekend! Bathroom and shower were very clean and spot on. Overall, good value for money and very friendly staff who are very accomodating.

Wonderful location, and good rooms.
The time spend at the hotel was short but it was a wonderful place to rest and recharge. A polite and helpful staff made it all the better.

Friendliness & Service from Staff
Friendliness & Service from Staff was good. No lifts in Hotel & not informed of this until checked in & I had a heavy bag that I had to carry up 2 flights of stairs. Breakfast was a bit pricey for what you got given.

Old hotel some nice features.
Old hotel some nice features. Quiet area not too far from town.Stairs with no lifts or baggage service.not good for those with back problems or older.

Old converted house - needs work!
Quite convenient - few minutes walk from the city gate. Old building, small room with inadequate storage space. Not sparkling clean but staff seemed genuinely concerned at our comfort. Good breakfast available. We're confused; we grumbled a lot but in 2 days it 'grew' on us!

Quite close to city gate - bus passes by if walking is a problem. Our room was tiny and space strictly limited with 2 upright chairs and a bed. No drawer space.

We found the staff were very i
We found the staff were very ill-informed about services. When we arrived they did not have details of 3 rooms we had booked months before, despite the fact that we had given all the names of the guests at the time of booking. It was nearly impossible to get a drink from the bar and when we did so we had to point out the bottles of spirits to the "barman". The rooms were OK, but very old. Overall we would not return.
