Loved this hotel !

Booked a feature double room - it was beautiful. Really big room with seating area and four poster bed. Nespresso machine in room too which is better than the usual instant sachets! The village is very pretty with a few pubs on your doorstep. Easy parking. 5 mins walk from Blenheim which is stunning - loved my stay at this hotel and hope to go back again.

Disappointing

After viewing the Macdonald Bear website, we were expecting a bright, cheerful room. Instead, we were disappointed to be assigned to a large, but dark cavelike room. Also, the acoustics were such that we were awakened every time our neighbors opened a door and/or climbed the nearby stairs. The dining room was terribly expensive so we tried the bar. After giving up on the meager bar menu we opted for a restaurant in the nearby King's Arms Hotel--much better! (Wish we'd stayed there.) The only advantage to staying at the Bear is their location--near the Blenheim and near the bus stop.

Dining tip: Short walk from hotel

Eat your meals at the King's Arms Hotel instead of the Bear Hotel. Good quality and reasonable pricing.

Sightseeing tip: Long walk from hotel

Blenheim Palace was a long walk a way. We enjoyed the hotel. We booked on line and had to book 2 rooms because there were three of us. The Staff said we could have had a rollway bed for our 13 year old.
