Visiting a friend

The hotel is in a perfect location right in the centre of Windsor, right next to the railway station and in the centre of shops etc. Castle just up the road and park around the corner. Hotel was just what you'd expect from a Travelodge, clean minimalistic rooms, easy check in and out, small bar, wifi etc etc. Staff, beds and cleanliness great, overall ideal for those who just want somewhere clean and easy to crash with no fuss.

Nightlife tip: Short walk from hotel

Not much going on in Windsor, few bars and a club just under hotel. Windsor is very pretty but prob more a couples place, not so much a big night out.....although myself and friend still managed to enjoy the night :O)

suited us for a one night stay

The location was very easy to find.Check in was quick and painless. The room was very clean.Having stayed in Travelodges before they do represent value for money if booked early. Breakfast was an all you can eat buffet including hot breakfast items ie sausage scrambled egg. Our room overlooked the main road and being a weekend there was noise from the nightclub nearby which woke me up about 2am. Lots of shouting swearing and boy racers reviving engines. The room was very hot so after closing the window we could still hear the noise. After reading other reviews it would seem that a room on the castle side higher up would have ensured a full nights sleep. A fan would have been a welcome addition plus air conditioning. As other reviewers have commented on the noise Travelodge have obviously made no effort to address this. Im not sure if I would stay here again.... maybe if it was an early bird deal

Fantastic budget hotel in downtown Windsor

LOCATION LOCATION LOCATION! For such a budget hotel, I was pleasantly surprised how the cheapest hotel accommodation I could find in/around Windsor was smack dab in the middle of downtown, 2min walk to the castle, close to restaurants/bars, and literally 30s from the train station. Breakfast was not free but they offered a buffet style English breakfast! The room was quite comfortable and spacious. You couldn't ask for more considering the price. We had a great stay and would definitely recommend.

Dining tip: Short walk from hotel

For great food/drinks with a great candlelight atmosphere at night, try All Bar One in the train station plaza. Also, for some spicy Caribbean chicken in a restaurant with great atmosphere and affordable prices, check out Nando's - England's secret little food chain; it's on the main street (Thames) and literally across from the castle. Great food, great view.

nothing special

Thought the 10 pound charge to check into the room an hour early was a bit much; room was ready but they wouldn't let me leave my bags so no choice but to pay the charge. No phone in room also a problem since mobile service in area wasn't the best. Room smelled very strongly of cleansers. Staff not familiar with local establishments, nearly sent me in a taxi to another town when I was trying to get directions to a restaurant a stone's throw away.
