cold showers

We oaid extra for room upgrade. Unfortunately there was no hot water either in shower or from taps. Mentioned it at desk but after an hour had to go and ask again. Different staff but still unable to fix. Offered another room which was small so decided to stay put. Gave us a bottle of wine as recompense. Otherwise great location and great room- if there had been hot water !

very poor stay

The room we were allocated was very sad, the furniture was in a very bad state, the bed was so bad you could not sleep at all. We just spent one of our two nights there, It was so bad we just wanted toleave as soon as possable. All in all a very bad experience.

Perfect location for the RSC theatre and Lamb's restaurant!

Perfect location for a good night out: dinner at Lamb's restaurant on Sheep Street and a play at the RSC theatre. One tip: There are *two* Chapel Streets in Stratford and most sat navs only list the wrong one which is in the suburbs. Set your sat nav to the intersection of Sheep Street and High Street instead. The entrance to the parking lot (10 pounds/day for hotel guests) is on Sheep Street.

A Pleasant Surprise

Upon entering the lobby, it appears to be a very old quaint building with rustic exposed oak beams and large wing-backed chairs and large fireplaces. Very quaint and cozy. Our rooms were at the top of the stairs and along a narrow hallway. No elevator, so it was a long haul. All of this was of little consequence when we saw the room. It was newly decorated and absolutely gorgeous! A four poster modern styling bedroom with windows that swung open to the surprisingly quiet street with a spectacular view. Flat panel TVs in both the bedroom and the adjoining sitting room that had a settee , chair and fridge that also had the same vintage leaded glass windows that opened onto the street. The bathroom was ultra modern and spa-like. Air conditioning was quiet and efficient. This was by far the best hotel room we had on our two week travel through the UK. The only downside I can think of was that we were charged extra for parking.
