We've stayed here before, so knew what to expect. The hotel has the wow factor when you first arrive and the service you receive from staff is impeccable. Rooms are fine - perhaps a little overpriced for what you get, but what you are paying for
really is an authentic Tudor hotel in the heart of Stratford with beautiful grounds. There is no other hotel nearby that matches that.
Sorry that I can't recommend this hotel. When I booked I thought it looked great in the pictures, but overall appearance is worn out and badly in need of refurbishment. Quite grubby and DEFINITELY NOT FOUR STARS. Room size is fine, but rooms are
really far from the entrance and there is no elevator for dragging bags upstairs. We were two couples on our trip. Our friends had trouble with the shower, no hot water. The bath and sink had hot water though. Go figure.
Now for the worst part, the staff. They were completely absent. On check in we had to find a staff member at the bar to track down the reception employee. They never answered calls to reception or the operator. And almost every time we went by the front desk, there was no one there. So forget asking directions or advice or for another pillow!
Since it was the weekend, prices were much higher and it was the most expensive hotel on our trip. All in all was a 2 star experience at 4 star prices.
Nice facade and interior public rooms. Room only average with poor air conditioning. Long, long walk to room from reception, No lift. Friendly courteous staff. 1/4 mile walk to theater and town restaurants.
Very nice location within walking distance of most major sites in Stratford upon Avon. Free parking was a huge plus. Staff was very friendly and quick to help. While the rooms were adequate, they were a little older than we would have preferred
for the price.
