well situated for exploring the area, cathedral opposite, shops up the road, heritage sites within walking distance.lots of eating places for snacks or evening meals, friendly people in pubs in the evenings.
don,t let the slightly neglected outside
look of the hotel building put u off,(could do with a lick of paint in places)
the inside is bright, welcoming, upmarket, bedroom and bedding very good so were the pillows, bathroom and shower clean. my friend and I would use this hotel again
Hotel is well located but car parking was a nightmare. Check in went fine but bar service was well below par, I couldnt drink the pint i ordered although it was changed for something else. Bedroom was very comfortable and the other amenites,
shower etc were very good but the above did detract from the whole experience.
Staff friendly although car park small....Cannot be helped in a town centre and hotel in an old building though. Further parking a five minute walk away.
No matress cover on matress...Could not understand why and pillows hard. A couple of minors
on what was a good stay and have booked to stay again soon
Hotel features (5 = best, 1 = worst):
Short walk from hotel
The cathedral l was a minute away and stunning.
Walk around the town and go down the side streets... a lovely historic town
We were visiting St Albans for a family birthday and there were too many of us to stay with them. They live a 10-12 min walk away from the hotel and it all worked very well. The rooms were very clean and well serviced and we will certainly stay
again at the next 'Get together'
The staff were very friendly and helpful and my room was a good size and immaculate. it is let down by the communal rooms and the breakfast which was no better than a travelodge. I would definitely stay again for business but wouldn't chose it for
a romantic break!
The location for visiting St Albans as a tourist is excellent.
I stayed here for approximately 10 nights, and each one was wonderful. My girlfriend was with me in the room much of the time, and it was great being able to leave the hotel, enjoy downtown St Albans, and return to the room at our whim. The staff
was friendly, courteous and enjoyable, the room clean and comfortable. I'd definitely stay here again.
The building itself is old and beautiful, but my room was modern and extremely comfortable. It was cleanly, and the cleaning staff were rigorous in taking care of my garbage and messes. I was always surprised by how clean they got the bathroom
The staff were kind and helpful. I felt welcome and well cared for.
The location won't be to everyone's taste, but it was a lot of fun being able to just come outside and walk up the hill for tons of different food choices, and being near the gorgeous St Albans Cathedral (one of my favorite places in the world) was wonderful. The clock tower, park and lake are all near by. St Albans is a gorgeous town.
I spent 11 nights at the Comfort Hotel, and it will always be a special place to me.
