Extremely poor customer service
I arrived at the hotel for a business stay and the booking had been made for the wrong day. Whilst this was not the fault of Novotel the staff were extremely unhelpful and inflexible and offered no alternative solution even though I was a lone female traveller arriving at the hotel (in not a particularly nice area) quite late at night. I will not stay at a Novotel again and have recommended that my business does not use them for future travel.

Location was good, the rest, so so
I have stayed at several different Novotels in the last year or so and have always found them to be good. It is for this reason that I was not so pleased with this one. The location was fine for me having a meeting round the corner in the morning, however, check in took over 15 minutes and once checked in and at my room found that I had been assigned a room desigend for people with mobility issues (which I don't have), called reception to request a different room and once downstairs had to wait another 10 minutes to get a new key. Once in the new room, which was fine, i then found out that although the booking said complimentary wifi this only applied to public areas and for in room access I had to pay. No air con meant having to sleep with the window open and listen to the traffic all night. Check out was much faster but 14gbp for breakfast is too much, there is a mcdonalds just round the corner.

Go room only, £14 for breakfast is a lot to pay when there is a McDonalds about 40 yards away.

We found the novotel southampton a very pleasant place to stay.We had an executive room and was excellent value for money with full breakfast,internet usage included.Rooms were of a good size,comfy bed,separate toilet a bonus!Reception staff were excellent.Highly recommend

Very well located
The staff at the Novotel are very gracious and helpful, and the accommodations quite nice. It was unseasonably warm for early May, and while it was impossible for the desk staff to fire up the air conditioning (I guess they have it), they did bring us up a fan, very quickly. The hotel is an easy walk from the train station, even pulling a bag. It CAN be walked from the port, as well. Breakfast was included in our first stay, and it was quite nice. It was not included in our second stay, and it was not quite good enough that we were willing to pay over 13 pounds @ for it. MacDonald's and TGI Friday's are almost in the parking lot, and plenty of shopping is nearby. A very good place to stay pre- or post-cruise.

We enjoyed our stay at the Novotel
We enjoyed our stay at the Novotel however we found the room quite hot during the day. And this in Winter! It must be very uncomfortable in summer. Perhaps it would be cooler on the lower floors, but our room on the 4th floor was a little too warm for comfort.
