Unfortunately this property is
Unfortunately this property is well away from other hospitality services and only provides a self serve breakfast with no other catering options available. The property is only 10 years old and is in very good condition, however many of the rooms face to the west and when we were there (in June) it was quite hot and without air conditioning the rooms were unpleasantly hot in the afternoon. Maybe some ceiling fans would assist.

The Hotel does all they say it
The Hotel does all they say it does. Its best suited for Buisness Persons that want good access to the town and the motorway to the surrounding areas. Whilst it located right on the motorway it is not loud inside. The services on offer are basic, but the staff are very friendly and helpful. The food is good in the evening and the breakfast can be taken or left, but served with a smile. For the money it is very good and I would have no problem staying there again.

the breakfast was very good, however
the breakfast was very good, however my disabled mother could not have a shower due to the hotel not having a rubber bath mat. Therefore due to safety reasons could not have a shower.

Wonderful hotel and great food
The hotel was clean and quiet and the staff were great. The meals were good. It was close to the port where the Queen Mary 2 was.

Only a great location if you have a car.
The Holiday Inn Express Southampton was a nice enough hotel, however, it was poorly located for our purpose. There was no shuttle into Southampton so you had to order a taxi for any reason to go to the city center, shopping,sightseeing,dining. It was inconvenient to pay out those taxi fares at least twice a day which amounted to $40. US per day. The hotel itself was very clean and the rooms were comfortable. The staff was very friendly and knowledgeable about sights in the area. The hotel had a continental breakfast and sometimes dinner but for the most part you had to eat dinner out, another taxi fare. Since we were sailing out of the port, we would prefer a hotel more centrally located to the port and walking distance to the city center. Other than location, the hotel was pleasant.
