Great overnight stay

All reception staff were extremely helpful and very friendly - happy to give their attention to my inquisitive and chatty 7-year-old son. Excellent cliff-top location - stunning coastal views. Spacious room - clean and tidy. Breakfast was lovely - self-service. Close to local amenities/attractions - frequent links to South beach. Reserved parking - took hassle out of trip. Very happy - definitely use again in future.

A Day at the Sea Side

We had a lovely room with a sea view . The room was clean and quiet but a bit dated. My wife left the bathroom door open when she came out of the shower and the fire alarm went off with the steam . I think we should of been told of this problem beforehand . Also although we found a spare parking space in the hotel car park we were told we could not park there because it was booked and we would have to pay £6 to park on the road outside the hotel.

Last minute booking great value

We decided the day before we booked where we would like to go. We have always stayed at the other side of Scarborough but found the Clifton side more to our liking. Central to peasholme park and walks on the front at night away from the stress of the bustle of central but within walking distance. The staff were all friendly and very helpful, the room was clean the bathroom was also clean and adequate. We enjoyed the food and didn't feel rushed or crushed as we have in other hotels. The Clifton provided a wonderful break and was just what we were looking for.

Unfriendly Receptionist, cold room and dusty room

Encountered unfriendly Receptionist. Not helpful and eventually not informed/ given the Disc zone permit card.Incompetent to the point that she confirmed me twice that I have canceled the booking which was not true. After a tiring travel, facing this kind of receptionist just gives an unwelcomed feeling. However, when I confronted the desk, then everyone began to be friendly in a wink of an eye. Moreover, the room is cold made our little girl cough at night. The dusts are very obvious especially the tray.

Faulty Towers

The staff were brill, however the stay was memorable only because it was like faulty towers..The only moan we have was the staff in the bar are over stretched bar not being manned by (Manuel) the barman we were having to wait for 10mins or more at times. The (Manuel) seemed to be rushing all the time and kept doing a disappearing act whilst behind the bar. All in all it was a pleasant stay.

Not great

We had 2 rooms booked, double room was very small and we had to move a chair out into the corridor to get into the room easily. Bed was a small double. Staff a bit short and abrubt.
