Portsmouth great - HI poor

Would not recommend Sun, Sep 20, 2015
Three 6th Floor overlooking carpark. Bathroom miniscule, bath unusable by my wife. Complained...moved night two to a DDA room on Ground floor. Outlook carpark plus bins of rubble. DDA room tired...had to complain, tepid water to both sink and shower...shower just about acceptable after 10 minute tap running. Complained. Night three the water temperature had been fixed, although told it was low heat because of DDA...clearly not! 20 years since last with Holiday Inn, NEVER again! Staff listened and sought to help, but clearly hotel going through a refurbishment...we did not benefit.

Annual visitor for swimming open meet

Parking was not monitored therefore people parked in the disabled spaces who should not have. Breakfast is far too expensive as no discount for continental breakfast. I would like to see hotels advertise their breakfast times when booking.

Very nice stay

Would recommend Tue, Aug 26, 2014
We booked 2 nights at this hotel while we were visiting the Historic Dockyard. The hotel is will located for this as we were able to leave our car at the hotel and walk to the dockyard in about 15 minutes. The hotel is also well placed for the seafront at southsea. Rooms were clean and comfortable. The general level of noise in the hotel was low, staff very good. Also we did use the pool, sauna and steam room which were very good, clean and well presented. If we were to go back we would definately stay there again.

Needed a couple of days away and wondered what Portsmouth was like. Had a great stay and the hotel was very well situated for the main attractions.

Good location

Would recommend Wed, Jun 13, 2012
I have just had an email from the hotel due to my complaint that the bathroom / bedroom had not been properly cleaned on Saturday. I have been offered a small refund in recompense. Breakfasts could be much better, breads etc were not replaced rapidly enough every morning I was there and people were kept waiting. No pots of tea or coffee available in the lounge - just mugs which meant that I did not invite my friends/family to take tea/coffee with me, I used other venues instead. This hotel has gone downhill over the past five years which is a great pity.

Gunwharfe Quay for shopping, craft market, eating, views of the harbour and ferries. Always something to see with boat trips around the harbour a great experience. The restaurants in Southsea provide several different ethnic opportunities, do a little research on the internet before you go. Visit Chichester 13 miles away, it is a must with the Cathedral and beautiful buildings and the historic Cross in the middle of town. Shopping is great there.
