Small room, staff are not helpful, good breakfast though

I made the reservation online and encountered some problems with payment. I have been charged twice. I kept contact the hotel but the staff is not helpful at all. They never replied and just ignored me. I have never expected the services of such a large hotel chain is so unacceptable!

Hilton Hotel Nottingham

The hotel itself was a little hard to get to as it is right in the centre of town and there are allsorts of one ways and road restrictions but we found the right turn on the second time round the block. The first staff member we met was the concierge in the car park and he was very helpful and efficient. He quickly got the barrier raised and took our details as we had pre-booked the Hotel car park space, recommended. Check in time is from 3pm and as it was only 11am when we arrived we weren't expecting either of the 2 family rooms we had booked to be ready but the concierge said we should ask anyway at the desk as if they were ready we could check in straight away. As it turned out 1 of the rooms was ready and we were checked in within 5 minutes. Room was very spacious and light and well furnished, the sofa bed wasn't made up and indeed the second room when we checked into that later didn't have the extra bed in at all at first, however within 5 minutes of notifying reception about both of these issues housekeeping arrived and sorted them out. Just to stay with the hotel for now they were very helpful at breakfast as my daughter suffers from Coeliac Disease, which means her immune system can't tolerate Gluten ie. wheat and other grain products, and when we asked what was available on the buffet breakfast that she could have the chef was very helpful and actually despatched one of the staff to purchase more Gluten Free products. She came back with an array of breads and cakes etc which was very good of them. The pool is very nice as well. Out and about we really enjoyed the Robin Hood tour which was a walk around Nottingham with a guide dressed as Robin Hood, not at all as cheesy as it sounds this guy has a very good historical knowledge of Nottingham, not just Robin Hood orientated, and was an excellent performer and very engaging, highly recommended. The Crime & Punishment tour was very good also at the old court rooms and prison, you actually got to go down to the old cells which were basically caves in the very old days and the information again was very good. All in all a good weekend enjoyed by the whole family.

Brilliant Location - fantastic staff

Booked this hotel for a night in Nottingham to see Westlife. Stayed with my neice, who was also celebrating her 50th birthday. I emailed the hotel before we arrived to ask if there was any chance of a complimentary room upgrade due to the stay being for a special occasion, immediately recieved reply to say the request had been granted. The receptionist also gave us a complimentary breakfast. Concierge was wonderful - breakfast staff really good. The breakfast was excellent too, couldn't fault this hotel or its staff in any way. Also fantastic location, smack bang in the middle of the City.

Worryingly unhygienic bathroom floor

The bathroom spoiled an otherwise great stay. Efficient check in by courteous reception staff, friendly & helpful concierge took care of our luggage on our early arrival. The flooring on Floor 3 has been overlooked during the recent refit. Our room floor was unacceptably noisy & creaky & we felt we were disturbing our neighbours just trying to venture from bed to bathroom. The uneven and moving floor continued into the bathroom. 5 floor tiles were cracked, 3 of which looked almost shattered they were so badly cracked. Disturbingly, the 3 worst tiles were around the toilet and a further tile was totally unattached & raised over 1" as you stepped on it. I dread to think what bacteria & other nasties were lurking in the cracks & under these tiles. I reported the problem to reception on the first morning & was advised that maintenance would be informed. We received no feedback, no repair was made & neither were we offered a more hygienic room. Reception advised once again as we left & feedback report completed. On a positive note the bar & restaurant areas were pleasant & we made good use of the leisure facilities. Great central location for anyone wanting to experience the buzz of the city. Thankfully we got a great early booking deal, but would advise anyone paying rack-rate to avoid room 311. The low scores reflect the flooring problem & the failure to resolve the matter to my satisfaction. Overall impressions were otherwise good.

Next door to Victoria Centre, across road to Corner House leisure complex, walking distance to bars restaurants and Theatres. Great if you enjoy the buzz of city life.

Very Central

The hotel itself is very central for all the shops and the Victoria Shopping Centre and the staff at the hotel were very helpful. However, I have to say that the room was quite small and looked nothing like the rooms on the website so I was a bit disappointed in the size of it as we were falling over each other.
