Nestled by the Cheviot Hills in the quaint town of Wooler, this family-run former Coaching Inn offers a welcoming ambiance with cosy log fires, seasonal cuisine, stunning scenery, free Wi-Fi and parking. Originally built in the 17th Century by the Earl of Tankerville, it has a long history of providing comfort and warmth to travellers wishing to explore the beauty of the Northumbrian countryside. To this day, the hotel has retained this traditional spirit of hospitality and has garnered a fantastic reputation for its friendly and helpful service. Central to this is the cultivation of a peaceful and relaxing atmosphere supported by some wonderful views, lovely gardens and a sense of charm and style that effortlessly evokes the captivating allure of its vibrant past. The dramatic hills and sheltered valleys of Northumberland National Park stretch all the way from Hadrian's Wall to the Scottish Border creating a virtual paradise for lovers of the great outdoors. With ample opportunities for walking, rambling, bird-watching, cycling and horse-riding, the area is infused with an inspired sense of freedom and adventure. The Holy Island of Lindisfarne has a rhythm all of its own, taking in Lindisfarne Castle, Gospel Garden and Priory and also the Owl Sanctuary in Beal. History buffs can explore the wonders of the iconic Alnwick Castle, one of the largest inhabited castles in Europe. Indeed, younger visitors are sure to recognise it as the location of Hogwarts in the first two Harry Potter films. Further afield and spanning nine acres of land on its rocky plateau high above the Northumberland coastline, Bamburgh Castle offers over two thousand years of exhilarating history. Once the Royal Seat of the Kings of Northumbria it has seen centuries of bloody battles, royal rebellions, spellbinding legends and grisly ghost stories. Hotel also provides free breakfast to its guests.

Wowing locals and visitors alike, it has built up a dedicated following over the years, becoming a real hit among those who appreciate truly great food. The restaurant itself has a wonderfully relaxed atmosphere and overlooks the Hotel's beautifully maintained garden where guests can enjoy a spot of alfresco dining on those warmer Summer days. During the colder months, the Copper Bar has its own large log fire and is the perfect place for per-dinner drinks and socializing with friends old and new.

Last minute night away with wife and new car!

Wanted just one night in Northumberland, as we had purchased a new car and were driving around this beautiful area for the weekend. Found this venue a week earlier on last minute.com. Excellent value for money, staff extremely friendly, exceptional breakfast, wonderful meal in the bar/restaurant, very comfy and well equipped room, all round it was perfect.
