Situated on Newcastles famous and picturesque Quayside and just an 8 minute walk to the city centre. The hotel occupies a handsome Grade II listed building steeped in history and includes free Wi-Fi, parking and the lively late night Popolos, open every night of the week. The city centre plays host to an excellent choice of shopping and also plays host to the Theatre Royal, which brings in talents such as opera North and The Royal Shakespeare Company. The bar is located on the ground level or if its dancing you prefer, then look no further than Riverside nightclub, both of which have special tie in deals with the hotel, so simply ask at reception. The hotel aims to go that extra mile to ensure you have a wonderful stay. The hotel also offers free breakfast. *Please Note guests can check in from 3pm to 4am

Fab Location

This hotel is rather lovely, although quite old fashioned. The location is perfect in the Quayside area, with nearby car parking. The staff were very friendly, and although there was a problem with cold water in some rooms, went out of their way to ensure that it impacted us the least possible, by providing an extra room one night, and putting in our breakfast for free. The breakfast is made to order, and was very good. Television has all the freeview channels.

Dining tip: Short walk from hotel

Use the Wetherspoons over the road for eating and drinking. A bottle of Newcy Brown was £2.40 in the Quayside, but £4.20 in the hotel bar!

Excellent place to stay in the middle of everything

I had a one night stay at the waterside for a Christmas function , i have to say that my stay was brill.Perfect location , the room even though it was a single had everything that was needed and was very comfortable, i got a very clear explanation off the staff regarding parking and where the breakfast room was.The breakfast was very very nice. The main thing that topped it off was the staff they were so helpful . I would not hesitate to stay again

not a good hotel

The hotel is tired. The layout is confusing. The smell in the the lobby and stairwell is overpowering and offensive. The brown decor is oppressive. Breakfast good, but sausages cheap. Location good, but hotel does not stand out.

Dissapointed

Before arriving we called about breakfast as I am gluten and wheat free. Despite saying on their website they would try to cater to individual needs I was told if I wanted to eat gluten free I was to bring in my own food, including a tin of beans and meat. When we checked in there was a horrible sewer smell and were put into a room that was nothing like any of the pictures. There were holes in the walls, the carpet was pulled up, the window didn't shut, the bathroom light didn't work and it smelt like over sprayed men's perfume. We complained and were moved into a room downstairs which was a lot better n was clearly the newly refurbed rooms. At 9am the receptionist called to let us know checkout was at 12?!

A Welcome Relief

Due to Newcastle's layout, it was a bit tricky getting to from te train station, but the view was lovely, the staff very helpful and the room blessedly cool during the July heat wave! Yes, A/C was present! They also had a library of dvds to loan. Definitely enjoyed my stay there!

Daughers Garduation

We wanted something cheap & cheerful - The Waterside Hotel is just that. Staff were VERY friendly and helpful. Free parking was provided just over the road but there's a spot to 'unload' as it were. Breakfast was very nice quality and perfect;y cooked. Again staff were great. Our only gripe was the room itself wasn't very clean and the bed a little uncomfortable. It actually sloped slightly towards the wall (room 304) so you felt your head was lower than your feet. All in all though great value, great location. We're thinking of a couples night out in Newcastle so will deffo stop there. Mick
