Like the city itself, The County Hotel, Newcastle is a fascinating mix of the old and new. Newcastle has emerged as one of Britain's favorite cultural, shopping and short break destinations. At The County Hotel, the hotel have 114 bedrooms, including 18 Premier Executive rooms, and seven meeting rooms, the largest seating 180 people theater-style. Really good location-very warm room!!

It was a brilliant and very pleasant hotel in a perfect location to to the city centre and railway. It was well presented and the staff were friendly and welcoming. Our room was fine and clean..the only thing that was a negative about the room was the heat!thank goodness there was a fan in the wardrobe!the radiator wasnt on but there were very warm pipes running through the room causing it to be unabearably warm!Other than that, a fantastic stay.

Towels left on floor in hall!!!!

The location was great, right near the train station and the room was very clean -- but the maid never left enough towels for the two of us, did not refill the facial tissues and we did not have enough toilet tissue to last the night. The lack of adequate maid service was frustrating, one day while we were out the maid did deliver more towels upon our request BUT left the towels on the FLOOR in the HALL!!!! I could not believe it! So the maids need work at this hotel but the location was great and it was actually very clean.

Inside small but clean, staff friendly

the room was small but clean, the staff was efficient and cleaning people friendly, and the price was good for the area. It was a little warm in June, and with the window open, we could hear drunk people yelling throughout the night, a problem when one sleeps near bars and train stations.

We didn't make it there, but there was a club nearby that every Thursday night has curries and drink for 6 pounds a person. Wish we did...

The hotel is right opposite the

The hotel is right opposite the central railway station, so was extremely convenient for us; it's also a short walk to the centre of town and the Theatre Royal. Rooms were clean and comfortable (though we were first given a key to a room that had someone else's belongings in it!). The iron stayed cool and spilled water instead of steaming but everything else worked well. We didn't try the restaurant as there was a decent pub and a cheap cafe that sold breakfast nearby.

Great Value & Location

Shortly before my trip, I read the reviews here and was concerned about my booked economy single room (reserved earlier in the year) as many of the reviews were negative. I am delighted to share that my room was large for a single, and quiet (facing a side street). The bed was full sized and heavenly (new). The bathroom was roomy with a long tub and shower. I would stay here again. Dinner in the hotel restaurant was very good after my long flight. Clean, fresh and tasty food.

perfect location opposite station

perfect location opposite station and 3 minutes from theatre , my destination. (didn't use restaurant, bar or other facilities.) i arrive friday 11am hoping to leave my luggage till check-in and was instantly offered a room "we have a quiet one". i had booked a single room at a very good price and was delighted to find it had a double bed. the bed was against one wall and the room would have been a bit neat for two people, but was better than the typical single. room and bathroom spotless.self-service breakfast well organised, better than usual slow ordering, but food still fresh.excellent staff. positive attitude from everyone i met - reception, breakfast room and housekeeping.
