The royal treatment at this heritage hotel at the center of Manchester
The Midland Hotel is a British icon in the center of the city. Located only blocks from Piccadilly Station and sharing the same street with Manchester Central, it is an excellent location for business or leisure travel. This heritage hotel first opened a century ago and has been host to kings, queens, movie stars and rock stars. The opulent exterior of the Midland Hotel is mirrored by luxurious accommodations within. Enjoy world class dining at the award-winning The French (reservations strongly recommended), or afternoon tea at the Octagon Club.Highlights
- Location of one of the epic speeches by Winston Churchill
- Posh and Becks had their first date at the on-site, award-winning restaurant, The French
- Progressive environmental policies
Rooms
Expect only the best in these grand guest rooms and suites at the Midland Hotel. Lushly decorated, each room has a unique personality, but all are in the range of royal quarters. Find fine linens, large LCD televisions with cable channels, and Wi-Fi Internet access (two complimentary hours, then fees apply) in all rooms. Superior rooms and suites enjoy upgraded amenities in addition to more space.Features
Not only is this an iconic, heritage building with a fascinating history, it is also a centrally located luxury hotel with recent renovations and a progressive environmental policy that looks to the future. And because the Midland Hotel is only blocks from Piccadilly Station and neighbors Manchester Central and Bridgewater Hall, it is a prime spot for business or leisure travel. Be sure to make reservations at The French, where Posh and Becks had their first date. Wyvern is the place to go for cocktails and the Octagon Lounge does afternoon tea like no other. Stop into the fitness center at the Midland Hotel, swim a few laps in the pool, or challenge a friend to a squash game. Midland goes beyond expectations
This is the most beautiful hotel we've stayed at yet. Everyone was very nice and helpful. The breakfast was fantastic and dining room beautiful. We were very thankful the concierge sold stamps: both postcards and international so that we could send things back home. We had no complaints with this hotel, and will return on our next trip to Manchester!

Not Applicable
Don't bother with taxis or the metro. If you can walk, choose to walk. Everything in the city center is within walking distance and because there are always people out, it feels safe!

Excellent Hotel, Great location
Great location, excellent hotel, small pool. Car parking also a problem as you have to use the nearest NCP carpark costing around £18/day. Great breakfast and very helpful staff.

Great way to end our trip
The hotel check-in was easy and fast. They allowed us to check our bags and do everything later since we were running to a football match. Room extremely spacious and no noise which was wonderful!

"loved this hotel"
Loved this hotel - only complaint is that the staff at the front desk were incompetent and rude (but at least the concierge was kind and helpful) - other than that, our rooms were gorgeous, beautifully clean and energy efficient! Room service was fast and delicious, the bed was comfy - the hotel itself is a majestic building. Also, the artwork in the hallways was brilliantly curated, which was a great touch!

Short walk from hotel
Don't be afraid to take the tram! Public transit in Manchester is easy to use, and there's a stop right by the hotel door. (The concierge has maps!)

Great hotel- efficient check in
Great hotel- efficient check in and lovely room. Only slight downside was size of pool and generally leisure facilities could do with a bit of refurbishment. Also shame that the saunas were located in each of the changing rooms which meant that if you had an opposite sex partner you had to use the sauna on your own. Also note that parking is not available at the hotel however there is an NCP car park very close by (£17 for 24 hours).
