Not worth the full rate

1st of all I would reccommend Sunday Lunch in the Restaurant. I thought it was £30 for 3 courses and was pleasantly surprised when it was actually £20 per person. Even the wine which was a NZ Pinot Noir to go with the food was only £22 and a quick google showed it to be £11 to buy so not the usual 3 times (or more)cost here. We were running late due to motorway accident and staff were all very helpful and nice. In fact staff were pleasant throughout our stay. It was our wedding anniversary and I chose the Lowry for location as it is near the shops and MEN where we were seeing Coldplay on Sunday night. I asked for an ice bucket for our champagne but as this was £5 I just emptied the mini bar and cooled it in there. Staying the Sunday was a good rate at just over £120 for a riverside room. It was nearer £400 if on a Saturday or Monday so we only stayed one night. Room was large, comfortable and modern. Just not worth the full rate IMHO. If you are tall like me you have to bend down in the shower which is situated above the bath. Tea and Coffee making facilities have to be asked for. I would have preferred a boutique hotel with smaller room and nicer furnishings but this did the job.

Great front of house team. Poor support

A late lunch provided dried-up bread (kept warm for too long). A snack in the bar in the evening took 45 minutes to deliver. On request to room service, told there were no sanitary bags 'as the supplier hadn't delivered'. As a substitute, were given laundry bags (enough for a whole week's washing) Having said all that, the staff were extremely apologetic about the hotel's shortcomings. Oh! A can of smoothflow Boddingtons cost £5.00 and a glass of wine was over £10 for a very medicre chablis.

Shopping tip: Short walk from hotel

Watch out for the old trick of automatically adding a 10 per cent service charge, then leaving a space for gratuities on the bill.

This was our second stay here,

This was our second stay here, the first was great. this time we found the carpet stained, the dvd not working and worst of all the black out blind had come unfastened at the top (high up approx 12 feet) so at 4.30 am sunlight flooded the room , so we were unable to sleep, my husband went to inform the 24hour night staff but there was no one at reception. so all in all not a five star visit . when we mentioned our complaints to reception they were not really intrested, but said mention it next time and we would be looked after , i carnt see there being a next time. all we got was the offer of free car parking and as we were not in the car park hardley any compensation for not sleeping in a bed room that costs over £ 200.00. bad show from manchesters premier hotel.
