Renovations make this downtown Manchester boutique hotel shine
The renovated Macdonald Townhouse Manchester offers boutique hotel accommodations in the heart of downtown. Friendly service, stylish accommodations and convenience to area attractions are all part of the package. Piccadilly Gardens and Manchester Art Gallery are within walking distance of Macdonald Townhouse. Or travel farther and faster on the nearby Metrolink train. From the exotic to classic British dishes, the 101 Brasserie has a superb menu (reservations recommended). The accompanying 101 Bar is a great spot for drinks with others.

Amazing

The hotel was very clean and staff couldn't do enough for you. We got there a bit early but our room was ready for us. We ate in the restaurant 2 nights and the meals were fantastic. They did a meal deal, two courses plus a bottle of wine for £17.95 each and worth every penny. The location was perfect most places were within walking distance if not the trams and local buses were at hand and very reasonable. We would recommend this hotel and would stay there again.

A lovely time at Princess on Portland!

We really loved our time at the Princess. They have apparently remodeled recently and it showed - everything was beautiful. The room was a good size, had a nice view of Portland street, and was kept up well the time we were there. Our luggage was lost by the airline, and upon checking in, the staff was so kind and helpful. They gave us lots of extras to help out and suggested places to go to buy inexpensive replacement clothes. The restaurant was delicious, as well. We ate there for breakfast once and dinner once, and were very pleased with both meals. They have a buffet for breakfast and their dinner entrees were upscale and really reasonable portions. We loved our time at the Princess on Portland and were sorry to leave!

Shopping tip: Short walk from hotel

There's a Primark a few blocks away. The hotel staff suggested it and I'm so glad they did! Inexpensive, fun clothes!
