Just so so, and hidden costs.
We expected to have a swim after a long day of travel. At 6:30 it closed to kids. We also expected a courtesy bus from our airport terminal. Not so. They charged us $13 each way for EACH of us!!! I've had to stay at many airport hotels and this was not at all what I'd come to expect.

Convenient to airport
Personel were very friendly and helpful. Bar and restaurant were nice and reasonable. Rooms were small but clean and comfortable. The lift was broken which meant dragging luggage up a flight of stairs.

Holiday Inn Manchester Airport
It's a bit far from the airport and catching/arranging the shuttle there was a bit of a hassle. I recommend allowing someone at the airport information desk to book the shuttle transfer for you. If I had to do it again I would have booked a hotel in Manchester center (there are good hotels available for a comparable price) since there is a very convenient train from the airport to the city center. The hotel itself was nice. Good (british) breakfast selection, nice gardens, and a hiking trail out back.

Great Value
Extremely friendly and hospitable staff from minute of check in to check out. Away from the hustle and bustle of Manchester City Centre but central enough to be able to see everything with a short drive. Will need a rental car and the front desk will help you make arrangements (Eurocar (UK National franchise) at a very favorable rate. Cars are small so plan accordingly. As for hotel rooms; we upgraded to the Executive Suite and woth every penny extra (although not that much extra). Queen plus size bed (they call it a King). Our friend had a single for a few nights after being upgraded on check in to a "family room". Way too small. Go with the family or executive rooms!!! Have a full spa and fitness center on site: wonderful. We didn't eat much in the restaurant on site due to over schedule. Have a full bar/pub on-site.

surprisingly good value
Convenient location with very efficient staff. Midnight fire alarm/false alarm spoiled the stay. The staff handled it well but the emergency service response was incredibly slow. Rooms do not have clocks unfortunately.....a common problem in many hotels.

No Complaints Here!
Didnt stay much at the hotel but we did forget an item in the room when we checked out and left the country. The staff was helpful enough to locate it and ship to us in New York. Life Savers!

Fabulous!
This place was so amazingly wonderful! Room was brand new and clean! Gym was HUGE, well equipped and spotless! Pool/hot tub fabulous - all indoors with a lovely interior inside a solarium! 2 downfalls. 1. I was on the 3rd floor and the elevator only goes up to the 2nd - so you have to drag your luggage up the steps. 3. the 3rd floor is also newer construction (I think) so the walls are PAPER thin - IE neighbors sneeze and you wake up... also for the 2 nights I was there, I heard both functions that were being catered until 12:00.

Location had a surprise
It was - close to the end of the runway! It required a 10 minute shuttle ride to get to the hotel on a busy road. However the pleaseant surprise came when we discovered a hiking trail through National Trust lands right next door to the hotel grounds with a clearly marked trailhead. We enjoyed a late afternoon hike after our arrival and wished we had time for more.
