Overnight stay
This was a cheaper alternative to taking a taxi back to Wilmslow on a Friday night and for that it worked, however, the hotels is very tired and the bed uncomfortable. There is also quite alot of noise outside from street cleaners and bin waggons BUT it was cheap and did the job!

romantic overnight stay
Well.....myself and my partner had come to this hotel for a romantic overnight stay but had the misfortune of staying in an inadequate room. First of all there was a light switch by the door for the main room light..which did not exist.Instead we had 2 lamps to light up the room. Secondly the sliding wardrobe doors didnt shut properly and there was rust and makeup on a handtowel. Also you cant open the bedroom windows properly and since this was a smoking room that seemed quite silly so it would have stale smoke left over in the room. This was a shame as we were really looking forward to this stay but wont be staying here again.

DIRTY, STINKY HOTEL!
DO NOT STAY HERE! POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE, DIRTY, STINKY HOTEL! Worst hotel I have ever stayed in my entire life! This hotel was cold, drafty, and smelled like mildew. The furnishings and carpet are extremely dated and the entire hotel is in great need of a major overhaul.

Ok, but not great.
The room was clean but small like most London Hotels. The room had no windows but only a skylight vent that opened at the pull of a string. this saved us to some degree because even with the radiator turned off the room became so hot during the night we needed to open it. the bed was worn and saggy in the middle. TV only had like 4 stations. Location was good for sightseeing. Probably would not stay here again.

Hot and loud
Room had no window only a skylight, was very hot and miserable, especially on 5th floor. Also heard music through walls of some dance club. Could also hear next door turning off/on light switches sounded like they were coming through the door. Found a whole fingernail on the bathroom floor corner. Fixtures were rusted. Not a great hotel experience at all.

comfy and convenient
The Britannia is a fine place to stay in Manchester. It's right in the heart of the city and a five to 10 minute walk from the main rail station, Picadilly. We stayed on the fifth floor in a room not facing the street.(We asked for a quiet room). The minor note I'd make is that the evening was warm and with no ceiling fan and only a small window opening, it got quite warm, thought certainly not unbearable. Also I thought the price included brakfast but that was not the case. The ensuite facilties (shower and bath)were great, the vast window offered a view over the city and hotel staff were very friendly and stored our bags for some hours after check-out thus saving us from lugging them around until our late afternoon train. The central staircase in this heritage building is a sight to behold. I have no qualms recommending the Britannia in Manchester.

After reading previous reviews
After reading previous reviews I was nervous about my stay but after arriving and having a smooth quick check in and seeing that our room was clean and comfortable I relaxed about it and enjoyed my stay. The hotel is in a Brilliant location, close to shops and bars. Yes the rooms are a little dated and could do with decorating but were very clean. Overall a great weekend.

Spend your money elsewhere
Location is good. That's about it. 1. I only found 2 elevators for the entire hotel. Note from the pictures how large the building is. 2. Room were large but my carpets were stained and the decor was not updated. 3. The grout in my shower was stained with mildew/mold. There was a constant odor of mildew in the bathroom. 4. The frame above the 1 power outlet blocked my adaptor. 5. Wifi was unavailable in the rooms. The staff was completely unhelpful regarding this. Bottom line: spend your money elsewhere
