Perfect location

Only stayed 1 night but it was great value, location was perfect for our night out. Only slight negative was that the room was too warm even though it was pretty cool temps outdoors. Would definitely stay here again, but we did get a cheap deal this time.

Ideal

Really clean, comfortable room with everything you could need. Great being able to cook own meals and nice big fridge to chill your wine! Close to gay village , so a bit noisy with windows open, as room was really hot. Enjoyed our stay, but please be aware that you have to make a £100 deposit on arrival through your card or cash.

You can do better

I was here for a couple of days before starting a vacation in Scotland. The hotel has the virtue of being central to all that's going in Manchester, with close proximity to the Gay Village, Chinatown, the museums, and shopping. It was also nice to have the convenience of a small apartment with a fridge and other amenities. To avoid eating out, step around the corner to the Sainsbury or another neighborhood grocery, and you're all set. Having said that, there were some challenges. There's a sign in the elevator apologizing for the smell, but apparently the local utility company has an open manhole underneath the elevator shaft. Yeaahh- "unpleasant" is pretty generous for the noxious odor of sewage. However, it was isolated to the elevator. The staff were kind of indifferent, and not especially hospitable. There was a particularly grumpy maintenance/cleaning man who just sort of grunted and was generally unpleasant. Finally, it was really noisy at night, being very close to the bars and the street. The crowd was going until 3-4a both nights. If you value rest, bring earplugs and/or strong tranquilizers. If you plan to be out until 3-4a anyway, this might be the place for you!

Centrally located

We walked around Manchester after a wedding the previous weekend. The staff were great- checked us in early, helpful. I would recommend not having a ground room especially if your there over a weekend. I imagine it would be very loud. Comfy room, close walk around Manchester.

Good location & price. Apartment

Good location & price. Apartment clean & well furnished. No microwave oven which would have been more useful for a short stay than a full sized oven & dishwasher. Recycling area dirty & inadequate. TV picture quality poor on several channels & unable to tune in mainstream channels like BBC1 & 2. The reception staff that I encountered were helpful & friendly bar one. Subjected to very late night noise from canal area below apartment & adjacent bar despite double glazing. Would stay there again, if on a short visit, on basis of location & price.

If you are expecting the same

If you are expecting the same services as that of a normal 4*, then this is not the right place. In general, this might be a better bet for those who are planning to little longer and prefer to cook their own food.

We ha a 1-bedroom apartment with

We ha a 1-bedroom apartment with kitchen. Excellent size and nicely equipped. Very nice rooms, though a bit hot. Location is VERY central, but be advised, there is a lot of traffic noise from Princess Street. Get rooms high up or towards another street. Staff is friendly. Rooms get cleaned on a weekly basis during your stay, this should really be doubled, but no problem getting your towels changed if you want to. We will use this hotel again!
