Great location, nice hotel, staff could improve.

It was a great location, nice sized room and fantastic location. Good breakfast. One particular bar staff member, was very cocky, unfriendly and actually quite rude. The rest of the staff were ok but not exactly memorable for their friendly nature.

mad house at check in

at checkin, we were told the garage was full, but other departing guest were complaining that the garage was padlocked and no one could find the manager to get their cars out. we had to go blocks down the road to a pay parking lot. the street noise was outrageous. no a/c, so we had to leave the windows open. the racket continued until the wee hours.

Mixed bag at the Tower

Staying at the Tower is a mixed bag. The location inside the ancient city wall is its best feature. You can even shop and leave your stuff back in your room and go on to more sightseeing or shopping. The downside is the facilities are a bit jaded and the staff do not seem to realise they are in the hospitality business. I grew up in the City and still had problems making out the few words they uttered. Getting the team together to welcome guests and offer service would make this a great place to stay. Typical of a small thing to change the guests experience there would be to offer morning papers.

Nightlife tip: Short walk from hotel

The Badger's is the best pub in town. Lunch there is an essential part of shopping in the Foyleside (its just accross the street from the side entrance). Evenings are a great pub atmosphere with excellent staff attention.
