A very small room in an old hotel in a great location. Fine for my purposes.

It's an old hotel, and my room was very small. But it was charming, and the location was excellent. Considering the location, it was a very good value. It would not have been good for a family vacation, but for me on a business trip, it was fine.

Great Location

Price was a little high but located near Buckingham Palace and by plenty of hop on hop off buses it was easy to see a lot of the city.

Fantastic for kids

Arrived at 2.20pm and although room wasn't ready, received free drinks vouchers to apologise for the delay (I wasn't even aware it was 2pm check- in!). By the time the girls had finished my daughter's separate kids check-in (fab, and made her feel very special) the room was ready. We had requested a quiet room and this was what we got. Lovely decor, small-ish room but ideal for us, nice bathroom with coloured lighting which my daughter loved. Bed a bit wonky but didn't disturb sleep. Not far from Buckingham Palace, South Bank etc so we walked everywhere. Couldn't have been a better stay. Will definitely stay again.

Good Hotel

The Rubens is situated near to Victoria, and very close to Buckingham Palace, and therefore excellent for tourists. Our room was very small, but comfortable and well appointed. The public areas are very smart, but the bar prices are high, even by London hotels standard.

city break with my wife

The initial experience was terrible. Firstly the recerioninst carelessly failed to activate the room key and then were given a pokey room inferior to the booked specification. We felt that the hotel tried to shortchange us and got us off to a very poor start. We were however quickly upgraded. In general we were underwhelmed for what is an exoensive hotel. . We used the bbar one evening and were far from impressed and dined out for the rest of our stay.

AMAZING!

Our vacation was in July of 2014. The hotel was beautiful! The staff was attentive, kind and extremely helpful. This was the first time my 13 year old daughter and I traveled alone to London. The location was conveniently located we walked everywhere and always felt really safe and welcome! We would definitely recommend and return to the Rubens!

Great staff, great location, good value

So the rooms are small. This hotel is across the street from the Royal Mews, a mere 2-3 minute walk to the front of Buckingham Palace, St. Jame's , and Green parks. You can even walk to Harrod's. The Victorie Underground is close, and if you are a city person, it is an was walk to Westminster, Trafalgar Square, Parliament, and Westminster Abbey. The staff were great. The transformer that I brought for my wife's curling iron was broken, but the bell man brought one up for us. That was very much appreciated. The concierge booked us into a restaurant for our anniversary, there was always someone to open the door, and getting a bucket of ice sent up to the room took but a minute. There was even a piano player in the lounge every night. This was a nice hotel that had that tiny European feel yet remained comfortable. I could complain about the room size, but I wasn't there to do business or spend much time in the room. There was a bed that was comfortable and a sizable bathroom. It was just a very pleasant stay.

pleasant but tiny room

Welcoming and helpful staff. Had a very small room but it was nicely furnished and comfortable. No remote for the TV but that was put right rapidly. Noisy Aircon or some machine in the internal courtyard the room looked onto so had to shut the window, then the duvet was too warm but the internal aircon blew onto my face and was unpleasant - so not a great nights sleep! Located near to Buck palace but even nearer the massive reconstruction going on at Victoria station.
