Great hotel!

My husband and I stayed 7 nights at this hotel on our first trip to London. We arrived in London on an early morning flight and of course we knew we wouldn't be able to check in right away. We dropped off our luggage and the clerk told us to return in a hour or so and our room would be ready (which was still a few hours earlier than normal check in). We went to get something to eat and when we returned our room was ready. Even though our room was pretty small, we were very comfortable. The only time we spent in the room was at night to sleep so it wasn't a big deal. The room was very clean and the bed was comfortable. We got a great rate for booking 7 nights and I feel it was an excellent deal for the quality of the room. The lobby was comfortable, I used it every evening to take advantage of their free WiFi in the lobby. Staff was friendly and when I complained that someone was smoking in a room near mine, they took care of it right away (it's a non smoking hotel). The location was outstanding...right next to a lot of restaurants and a couple blocks from Oxford Street which has lots of shopping. The Bond Street Underground station is only a few minutes walk up the street. I don't have any complaints about this hotel. It actually far exceeded my expectations, and I was pleasantly surprised! I would definitely recommend staying here and I would stay here again if I ever decided to visit London again.

We enjoyed eating at Pontefract Castle, a pub just a few steps away from the hotel. Great pub food, and a lot cheaper than a lot of restaurants in the area. Fish and chips were delicious!

Amazing week end in London

I have been to London prior to this trip many time and was very often disapointed by London's hotel in general (Room never ready on time or after 5pm, rude staff, small rooms, noisy hotel,...). So to be honest I didn't know what to espect. But for this trip I was very please : hotel was very cute, staff very polite and always helpful, great size room and well desinged room and bathroom. The ebst was that we check in at 9am and was ready to leave our luggages but the room wasready right away and we were able to shower and take a short nap after our 10 hour overnight flight. Every day we asked the concierge for dinner's place and each night we had a great recommandation. Finally I should not forget to mention that the hotel is located in the heart of London only 2mn walk from Bond Street Tube station and in a very cute street.

Quiet luxury + service, great location

On a great street in Marylebone just off Oxford street you will find a hidden treasure, the Mandeville. You notice the kindness of the staff right away. There is also a very lively and hip bar as well as outstanding 2-star dining. From the operator who wakes you up in the morning, to the sincere and smiling staff greeting you in the lobby to the doorman who says good morning, it's about the best value and experience in London.

A great hotel

Hotel is surrounded by good reasonably priced restaurants and is accessible to the "Tube." The room was clean and very comfortable and the staff were attentive and helpful. We will stay at the Mandeville again any time we are in London.

We'll DEFINITELY be back!

The staff is wonderfully attentive. Our room was small (to be expected in Europe) but impeccably clean and well appointed. Marble, tile, and stone throughout, free WiFi in the lobby, doorman and concierge. Turn down service. In short, we could not have been more satisfied. We didn't try the restaurant/lounge, but both were hopping on FRI and SAT, and the menus looked tempting. The only thing that wasn't perfect, in my opinion, is that a construction crew is gutting/renovating a building on NW side of the hotel, where our room was. So the jackhammer started at around 9AM. But I'm sure that will be over by the end of 2010.

Dining tip: Short walk from hotel

The location is beyond compare. Bond Street tube stop is an easy five-minute walk. Both James Street and St. Christopher's Place are literally a minute's walk, and lined with great sidewalk cafes, and other gorgeous places to eat. Or walk the other way, on Mandeville Place, and you'll find Paul (French bakery), other cute eateries/shops, and the Royal Academy of Music - in Charles Dickens' old neighborhood. The lovely Hyde Park and Kensington Gardens are a short walk away, as are many top theatres, playing hits like HAIR and LES MIS. If you like shopping (we don't) Oxford Street is a more than you'll ever need. If you don't AVOID it: it's the most crowded street in London. Bond Street is also only two stops from Westminster on the Jubilee line. One final recommendation: try the Original Tour (hop on/hop off) for 25 pounds/person, starting at Marble Arch. Make sure to get off at St. Paul's, Westminster, and take the (included) river boat portion past the (new) Globe Theatre.

A Royal Treatment

My first trip to London was fantastic! I was traveling with my daughter and I was looking for a safe area in London. I spent countless hours searching for the perfect hotel and after reading great reviews for The Mandeville Hotel I was impressed and I decided to book five nights. It was truly an excellent decision and one of the highlights of my trip. The location was perfect. Walking distance to Marylebone Street, Oxford Street, Bond Street, fine boutiques and dinning. The staff was fabulous and they catered to our every need. The staff pampered us beyond our imagination during our entire stay. I want to specially thank [...] for making our stay awesome. It was truly home away from home. The hotel rooms were very cozy, beautifully decorated, and very clean. I would definitely give the hotel location and the entire staff high marks. They are truly the people that make the Mandeville what it is. I highly recommend this hotel and I plan to stay here on my next visit to London.

Excellent London location, first-class

The staff was very courteous and overall a fine experience. They always ask if there is anything else they can do to assist. You will not find unnecessary extras such as a pool, hot tub, etc. but who needs that when you are visiting a wonderful city and your experience is about town. The rooms are not large, but they are very finely appointed.

A beautiful, unique, and spacious room with excellent furnishings and a large comfortable bed. The staff was helpful and friendly. The hotel is centrally located just off Oxford Street (shopping/tube station central) but is still peaceful and relaxing.

St. Christopher's is just across the street from the hotel. There are many really good restaurants (French, Italian, middle eastern) and a fun pub (The Lamb and the Flag) with lots of outdoor space to mingle! Everything shuts down at 11pm so plan accordingly. Make a right out of the pub for delicious breakfasts (English style too) at the French Patisseries along the road.

EXCELLENT SERVICE, BEYOND EXPECTATIONS!

The service from the staff was excellent. The concierge was unbeatable and helped us in any way possible. They were able to book our London Bridge trip, our open top bus tour, our wax museum tours and more. They were very knowledgeable of the area which was very close to the Bond Street tube station. They even helped us with a problem we had with our electrical outlet converter and wattage adapter. The only slight drawback are the rooms are rather small but who is really in your rooms on a vacation?? I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone.

Money-saving tip: Short walk from hotel

The only way to travel around London is on the Tube. All you will need to do is purchase an Oyster card for zones 1 and 2 (maybe 3 depending on how far you'll be traveling) and just be able to read the Tube station signs. They are very easy to understand and this saves a large amount of cash compared to taking taxis everywhere.
