A gem on Cleveland Park
The hotel at which the conference was being held wanted L400+ for a room for a night. This hotel was much, much more reasonable! And more beautiful, and simpler, and more functionally pleasing. This hotel is one of a series of flats on a long block which has been renovated into an utterly charming and adorable hotel. My room had a kitchenette discreetly hidden behind folding doors. The bathroom was fine, with a shower stall and requisite hand-held shower head (a most civilized accessory). The sink was tiny, but did what it was supposed to. My bed was reasonably soft and fresh, the pillows still had the new springiness to them. And there were plenty of pillows, always a predilection of mine. The lighting was particularly interesting and flooded the whole room in a gentle luminescence. I also found the floor lamp next to the glass-topped working desk a nice piece of functional and artistic design. The hotel offers a fine continental breakfast of pastries, yogurt, juice and fruit for an easily accepted price. I've seen menus at other hotels where an ounce or so of juice, an egg, toast and a small piece of bacon is gouged at $25 US. Outrageous. British TV is a hoot. A lot of American programs (unfortunately) to be found as well. Large LCD TV on the wall. All in all a wonderful place. If you speak Lithuanian, there are some friendly people on the staff there who are Lithuanian. I would recommend this place to anyone.

Great location and comfortable room
This hotel's biggest advantage is its' location. It is convenient to 3 underground stations, food stores, a variety of restaurants, and a laundry facility. We found the room to be comfortable and quiet and the staff was very accomodating. I liked having a kitchenette in the room so we didn't have to eat out all the time. I would recommend the Cleveland Hotel to anyone who stays in London.

First time to London
I sent my mom and dad to London as a surprise - they had never been before. They were a little nervous about London's size, but the people at the hotel could not have been any more helpful or accommodating. The room was a good size by European standards, clean and quiet, fully renovated. Without a doubt, they said it was the best customer service hands down and the staf'fs helpfulness enhanced their vacation experience. Their suggestions for local pubs and other 'local' tips were dead on. Thank you so much to the Cleveland Hotel staff!!

Terrific find in Central London
The Cleveland Hotel is peaceful and beautifully maintained. It is a gem. It is located on a quiet street 3 blocks from a bustling shopping district. The Bayswater Underground stop is 4 blocks away. It is close to Paddington Station, the bus lines, and lots of good restaurants. Nottinghill isn't far and has good shopping. We had a room for three in a quiet basement level with a courtyard adjacent. We were surprised to find a kitchenette. We made tea and toast in our room and brought other snacks to the room to keep in the fridge. The staff was pleasant and helpful.

Beware - Limited Elevator!
Pros: Close to both subway and bus transit; Many shops, restaurants, money exchange places nearby; staff was polite and helpful Cons: Very small room for the value; 4 story building but no elevator for the first or fourth floors which means if you stay on the fourth floor you pretty much have to walk the steps both coming and going; no continental breakfast

I would definitely stay here again!
Staff is very friendly and helpful. Our room is a little small for 4 people, but it depends on the room you end up with. Our parents were in another room and theirs were big. The location of the hotel is close enough to the paddington station that you can walk from there. There are also lots of shops near by which is on the queens way station. The staff always cleaned our room and provided everything we needed.

Dining tip:
Short walk from hotel
A short walking distance towards the Queens way station are a lot of places to get food including pizza hut, McDonald, subway and burger king. There are also a lot of souvenir shops close by. If you are short on cash, I suggest going to a grocery store and just buying your food there.

Small, Friendly, Family
Our stay at the Cleveland started at just after 10am on the day we arrived in London. Although check-in wasn't until 2, our room was ready for us, and Barbara had absolutely no issue letting us check in this far ahead of time. She gave us a small tour and led us up to our room, she even apologized for it being the smallest room in the hotel (Number 32), but we found that it fit our needs wonderfully. We weren't planning on spending that much time in our room anyway. She showed us the features of the room as the porter brought our bags up (that poor soul, three floors up and three heavy bags), and then left to let us do our thing. Each day as we left we notified the girl at the desk that we were heading out and our room could be cleaned, and each evening upon our return we found the room perfectly reset. The bed was made, our breakfast dishes were done, and a new bathmat was waiting for us. For those curious about travel needs, the Cleveland is a very short walk from the Paddington train and tube stations. All in all, I give the Cleveland very high marks, and would recommend it to anyone looking for an upscale but inexpensive hotel in London.
