Fine dining, modern styling, and in the heart of theaterland

The Strand Palace Hotel London is ideally located within walking distance of many of London's major tourist attractions. Guests visiting the city on business can make use of the hotel's nine conference rooms. There are excellent transport links right outside the door, including tube stations and bus stops that further add to the hotel's convenient location. The hotel's interesting contrast of a very modern interior with a typically old-English exterior makes for a comfortable stay and the on-site bar and restaurant serves various European dishes and a traditional British carvery. Wi-Fi is free of charge and available throughout the entire hotel.

Best Location

Friendly Staff Best location - except you might want to ask for a room not facing the main street since it is noisy all night---- Several little pastry/coffee shops and eateries within a block or two.-much more interesting and more for your money than the hotel breakfast.

Location for Theatre is Great

It was a great location because I saw a lot of Theatre which for the most part was in walking distance. The restaurant and lounge staff were extremely unfriendly. I had not signed up for the daily breakfast and when I tried to eat there it was like I had committed a sin for not signing up. The bartender at one of the lounges refused to wait on me. The location was subject to sirens.

I booked a standard single for

I booked a standard single for 2 nights. I thought breakfast was included but it transpired not - plus £15pn. The receptionist offered me an upgrade to a larger (arms outspread) room for £20 which I accepted. On entering, I realised that the arms outspread indicated the total dimensions literally rather than figuratively. I thought they'd made a mistake until I checked the floor plan and found something rather smaller down the corridoor! The TV didn't work so I had to move for second night - you guessed it...to the original (very small) box!!

"Convenient location, great deal"

Great location near Covent Garden, Trafalgar Square, and Charing Cross and Embankment tube stations making it very convenient for central London activities. Also near theater district so plenty of restaurants, pubs, and people around for evening activities. Covent Garden is VERY busy at night(we were there Thurs.-Sun.), so finding a place to sit at a restaurant can be nearly impossible until late. Lots of twenty and thirtysomethings out on the town in Covent Garden. We had no problem sleeping however as our room was off the street and had wood shutters to close so any noise and light was blocked for as long as you needed. The room was small, but more than adequate with wall-mounted flat screen TV, desk, armoire with safe, and ample shower/bathroom facilities. The staff was friendly, though not a huge help with sightseeing questions.They were generally not English and seemed fairly new to Britain. The concierge was very helpful and even could do theater tickets and exchange money. This hotel is right on the Strand which is a busy main street and is not in the middle of all the activities. We found it an excellent location to begin our stay in Great Britain.

Wonderful price for the location

The room was clean and updated, the carpet in the hall had not been updated yet and was stained and taped in places. The 9th floor can get warm and since I had a "inside" room there was no breeze to cool the room. That being said, the hotel is a great location for sight seeing and getting to train stations, not to mention several Starbucks near by for morning coffee. The staff was very nice and helpful. I have stayed there four times and will stay again.

Buy a travel card before you leave the states. It is sent to you and is activated for certain dates. As soon as I land in Heathrow, I can go down to the tube and take it to Covent Garden which is a VERY close walking distance to the Strand Palace. It is quick, easy and cheaper than a taxi :)
